Immigration Reform! Let's Poll It!


Let Everyone stay, enforce immigration laws going forward.

Pass The Dream Act, they can petition for siblings like everyone else

Pay for any services used, no crime hx, stay.

Let anyone here for 5+ years, who passes basic English test stay.
  8% (5)
For a fee, everyone >2 yrs in the US, W/out, Crime record, stays.

Send anyone here illegally back, to wherever they came from.

Send anyone without basic English skills, <70yo back.

If they can speak basic English, pay a modest fee, stay.

Pay what they've collected from welfare, while illegal, stay.

I don't know what the answer is, to immigration Reform. I have mixed feelings about it myself. What to do? I understand the Republican, and the Democratic sides of the argument, when they come genuine, without hints of racism.

What say you? What would be your solution, to the immigration reform, and illegal immigrants already in the US.
I do think that anyone born, or raised in the US before the age of 10, ought to be given the chance to pay certain fees (living and attending school, without paying taxes, or being a citizen ), and stay.

I have a feeling that, the president doesn't speak openly on this subject, because he really is, ambivalent about any single answer to this question. Humane people wish for all to have the opportunity, for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The practical man, probably knows, that the things have never been the same, and will probably not be in his lifetime.

Especially given that socialism, is a four letter word in this country. One of my cousins, visiting from Switzrland, sayd, that the country expulses a family, for 5 years, if an offspring does something criminal, while the couple are visiting, or working in the country. I thought it was an interesting idea... Problematic for the family, but it made me wonder. M

I dont see my prefered choice.

Let everyone who can pass a basic skills test stay, they pay a modest fee, provided they have no criminal record here or in their home country.

Bottom line, they broke the law.  Send them back or come up with some realllllllllly stiff penalties and ship them off to the Aleutian Islands - No guards needed to live until their sentence is up.

Hello M, nice poll.
I think you might not have been posting when I started several immigration related threads.

You are correct that this is a "sensitive subject", that is why you don't have that many responses.

On Collarme, if you state that you have "concerns" or have any opinion that does not support illegal immigration, and gosh forbid might not protect or promote illegal immigration, illegal immigrants, the number of illegal immigrants in this country, any real crack down on growing illegal immigration, protecting our borders, or anything similar, you are often called: a racist, bigot, anti-hispanic, mean-spirited, and even a gosh forbid a REPUBLICAN !!!

I have learned to say as little as possible on the subject of "illegal immigration" on collarme, it's just not worth it for me.
Any meaningful conversation gets lost in the sea of name-calling and cheap shots at most that dare to have a different opinion on the "situation".

Thank you Marini, for expressing concerns. I don't recall reading that thread of yours. As you know, I step away, when life needs, and stay away from P&R when I start to care enough to be annoyed.

I asked because I don't even pretend to know the right answer to this dilema.
I have an "we are the world" side, and an "we are the USA," side, and should care about us first.

Whew. Hate to think how annoying I would be to the man if I had to work on my cattle noises.

Sexy, im in the same boat. While illegal immigration is just that in my eyes, I cant help but feel for some who have been here illegally for years, yet never once been in any trouble, have probably been the victims of crimes themselves, have worked hard and paid the taxes they were supposed too.... and we are just supposed to turn our backs on them while our own citizens dont even do that much?
