Domi, murdering children (young adults) is abhorrent. My point is that these things always happen within a cultural context. Here is some more info about child murder in the United States quote:
Murdered children have been murdered by relatives in most occurrences. According to Friedman et al.,[2] of murdered American children younger than five years old, 61% were murdered by their parents (30% murdered by mothers, and 31% by fathers); homicide was the fourth leading cause of death amongst American preschool-aged children, and the third leading cause of death amongst American children five to fourteen years old. The killing of children is often closely related to instances of prolonged periods of child abuse. Some victims are murdered by parents as part of a murder-suicide. Parents sometimes begin administering corporal punishment that quickly escalates into severe abuse and occasionally murder, as, for example, in the Victoria Climbié case which occurred in London. Yes, all of these people are assholes who think they have the right to take the life of their kids, and they are "crazy", but the implications of what you are writing is to lump all Muslims together, many of them moderate. I know Muslim women who do not wear the hajab, for example, get to pick their own mates, etc. Just because there are segments within a population that do a thing doesn't mean everyone does. We used to burn women at the stake for being witches. We learned better, became more progressive, etc. I just think the title of the thread is a form of stereotype, just like thinking all Christians believe in demon possession is
