Status: offline 		Most honour killings are not about any form of written Islamic code instead they are about internal family disputes where it is deemed a family member had brought shame on the family. For this reason it is wrong to simply attribute honour killings with Islamic law. It would be like killing your daughter because she was dating a communist and then blaming that killing on capitalism. It's about an ignorant perception of honour and duty.

It is a religious issue because they have brown skin? Are you sure it's not because they (the ones who actually did it) said it a religious issue and Smith never mentioned religion?

Naw, if someone says something bad about a muslim, it has to be because of their skin. It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that some people really hate those who hurt kids.

I would only suspect that if they had tried to hide it, say by moving problem priests around to new unsuspecting congregations.

I'm taking the positive out of this episode.

The women were arrested, and the police say that there are potentially a few more suspected of aiding in the crime under investigation. And the Indian supreme court is now proposing the death penalty for "honour killings."

Not that I'm in favor of the death penalty, but I take note of the difference in the assertive prosecution and legal attitude against these killings now as opposed to the casual look-the-other-way attitude which has prevailed in these situations in times past.

You implied that no one mentioned religion in smiths case because she was white. I suggested that it was because it had NOTHING to do with religion and went on to explain that not everyone is hating these women because of the color of their skin.

It takes culture a long time to catch up to the law, but sooner or later, it does....

We have the same sort of problems within our own culture. It used to be legal to beat your wife here, and although the law has changed, men still do it and some in this society think a woman had it coming if her husband beats her.

I looked at a few pages and they didn't mention it. Perhaps she didn't believe in anything. Nothing I read says she mentioned god at all. But she is brown skinned so maybe we can throw her in with the muslims

Since the Church made priests become "celibate" to ensure all the property of the priests reverted back to the Church instead of wives or children....... they created the problem
