An individual mandate without the ability to buy inexpensive insurance is just evil

Look thats the deal!

You have 2 choices;

Either take it or take it, now whats it going to be?

I would just let everyone use Medicare no matter what their age. And if they don't like or don’t want Medicare they can buy their own private insurance. If they want any extras like a private room in a hospital they can buy it from any health care insurance company. This would be like Canadian healthcare which I think most Americans would find satisfactory.

It's extremely unlikely this man will win the nomination and I think it's even less likely he will become president. I think Newt is good to work for a right wing think tank because he has some good ideas sometimes.

FWIW, I think *anything* we do at a national level needs nationally integrated health IT technology, and despite the VA's problems, their VistA system ain't one of them...

This is what I think of every time I think of Newt

quote:

ORIGINAL: Newt Gingrich

"If combat means living in a ditch, females have biological problems staying in a ditch for thirty days because they get infections and they don't have upper body strength. I mean, some do, but they're relatively rare. On the other hand, men are basically little piglets, you drop them in the ditch, they roll around in it, doesn't matter, you know. These things are very real. On the other hand, if combat means being on an Aegis-class cruiser managing the computer controls for twelve ships and their rockets, a female may be again dramatically better than a male who gets very, very frustrated sitting in a chair all the time because males are biologically driven to go out and hunt giraffes."

wasnt too long ago you were telling us how great canadian hc is.  You posted how many threads per DAY about passing the ohahas hc crap.

quote:

Man who created Canadian health care admits that it sucks! Jun 30 Posted by Gatordoug And to think this failed model is what our American Liberals so want us to embrace. They portray it as a great system where everyone gets top-notch health care, and of course, they love to tell us that the best part is it is FREE! Not so much apparently. Back in the 1960s, Castonguay chaired a Canadian government committee studying health reform and recommended that his home province of Quebec — then the largest and most affluent in the country — adopt government-administered health care, covering all citizens through tax levies. The government followed his advice, leading to his modern-day moniker: “the father of Quebec medicare.” Even this title seems modest; Castonguay’s work triggered a domino effect across the country, until eventually his ideas were implemented from coast to coast. Four decades later, as the chairman of a government committee reviewing Quebec health care this year, Castonguay concluded that the system is in “crisis.” “We thought we could resolve the system’s problems by rationing services or injecting massive amounts of new money into it,” says Castonguay. But now he prescribes a radical overhaul: “We are proposing to give a greater role to the private sector so that people can exercise freedom of choice.”

Old enough to know that Newt Gingrich will save America from the downfall that it is currently in. He is not just another political opportunist like all the others. His principled stances, extreme charisma, and his ability to speak to the common man will ensure that he rides into office with a wave of historic voter approval.

I know that you have a secret admiration for Newt Gingrich, just admit it!

I love Newt.... before him I didn't know my period was actually a recurrent vaginal infection that cropped up every 30 days.... I thought it was normal, but Newt, he set me straight and showed me that these infections should be treated with caution... such as I should stay away from dirty trenches.... God Bless Newt!

Remember when Clinton proposed a national health record system? Newt was instrumental in demonizing it and preventing its passage.

What are the benefits of a national health record system? Why would we want one anyway? Just curious.

individual mandate Language: English
Definition:

The individual mandate provision of the recently passed health reform legislation requires citizens to have insurance coverage that meets minimum standards ... The legislation imposes a tax penalty on individuals – with some exceptions – who do not purchase coverage.

What definition are you using?

Your healthcare providers are spending a lot of money they don't have to trying to reinvent the healthcare IT wheel. Money which would otherwise go to their bottom line.

This is even before we discuss things like collecting standardized epidemiological data etc...
