I have a kitty, she has bad allergies, her eyes get crusty and weep. She is an old girl, so it hasn't completely impacted her health, but I have noticed it gets worse in spring. I can imagine cats are allergic to ciggies just like we are... some more sensitive than others

I was given a mattress set- for the spare room. I cringe over the perfume on it. ?body wash?? It reaks. The cat however does not mind- and lays on it. I am hoping the fumes leave- as I want to use it when the heat is 100 degrees. (first floor room-) Julia- I give my cat clariton when it is needed. Look it up-- she gets the allergy thing too.

IMO smokers should not smoke around cats. Or nonsmokers or any people. Including themselves.

Smokers shouldn't be allowed to smoke around anyone as it has been shown to be unhealthy. I quit smoking about 15 years ago and have become sensitive to any cigarette smoke around me ...the city I live in has very strict laws about this and the newest law they passed last year is this one: "Effective September 9, 2010, the smoke‐free areas at multi‐unit residential properties now also include a 25‐foot radius around all doors, windows, and vents. This includes private balconies, patios, porches, and decks within the 25‐foot radius. The law already covered all “common” areas accessible to and usable by more than one unit, such as common walkways, play areas, parking lots, and gardens." Now, the lady below me smokes on her balcony on and off and I always have my windows open and I can smell it when she does this but I never have complained.... I can only smell it for a few minutes each time or maybe I get used to the smell after a few minutes.

I have a theory about submissives and cats...I believe that since submissives are obviously so starved for rejection that they have discovered the mother load of dander ridden indifference to tap into. Just another source to show it's complete indifference to their miserable existence on this planet. Cat's are vile animals...Smoke in front of them? How about putting them all in a smoker?

Hmmm,.. well I think it depends on what a person is smoking, dont you? I dont smoke cigs or pot but dam if the smell of pot being smoked doesnt turn me on!!! Gee, I remember once a co-worker came in from his coffee break and he smelled of pot. Well, I just dont know what came over me but i kissed him, couldnt help myself. Then I took him home and banged him all night... Whew! Unfortunately he had to go and spoil it all by getting all romantic and buying me roses the next day and wanting me to run off with him.... sorry bud, it was a one time thing and I was under the influence and not in control of my actions!... So maybe some cats are like me and like the smell of pot being smoked???

My father smoked, didnt eat properly and had a heart attack when I was about 24. He survived but was told by the Doctor to change his lifestyle and habits. He didnt tho and died of another heart attack 2 years later, leaving my mother a widow. I still have not forgiven him for that. Too many people dont change their bad habits, even when its in their own best interests and its their lives that are at stake.

My condolenses to you tj444...I know where you are coming from. I am glad you don't smoke! Hey and regarding pot, and I won't say I haven't smoke a few puffs each time of potwhen it was offered to me..... but different than cigarettes which are a habit.....but two puffs is enough for me... ha ha

Wow!!! 70% is a high rate in your area...uggghh......I remember a guy who worked in our circuit board department at the electronic company I worked at for almost 20 years and he would ask if I wanted a puff....it was a small tech company then and as long as he did what he was supposed to do what the heck...this for me was always going to lunch at the local Mexican restaurant.

My mother was still fairly young and good looking but she never fell in love again, never remarried or even lived with anyone again, so I find that sad, that he left her to be alone all those years. I have a sweet tooth and did have pot brownies once (but only once and never smoked it). For me that one time it was just like an LSD trip was supposed to be, all psychedelic and absolutely everything was funny to me, I was laughing at everything for hours, my sides hurt so bad from laughing. Very strange. LOL I never did that again tho, I like to be in control of myself, thats why I dont drink much either.

No one in our family quit smoking because of it. But I was surprised how many of the oncology nurses and doctors we used to run into in the smoking area.
