So-  the neighbor and I were going to visit another neighbor who has 6 cats.   I keep thinking how hard it is for those cats to breath near all that smoke.

After that pause for effect I also air out my house. The ones that are bothered by the smoke stay away while a cigarette is lit, some actually come closer. Is it good for them? Possibly(probably) not the best thing in the world. But since the oldest one is 22 (that's right yall, for the ones who remember George, he's still roaming about in the house ) and ALL are rescues or strays and would be dead, I think they do allright, versus a crazy woman that wasnt smoking......:)

I do not think smokers should be allowed near smokers

I smoked for 23 yrs and I smoked outside after my son came along. I quit well over 6 years ago. I am extremely allergic to tobacco, even the smell makes me wheezy and then I have to use an inhaler.

Truly, if I had a cat and I did not think they should be around smoke and I was still an indoor smoker, their ass could go outside.. I am just mean like that

Smoking in and of itself is just bad imo.

Smoking inside your own home or any home for that matter is just naaasty!

My mom smoked inside her own home since before I was born up until a couple months ago when she was forced to stop smoking due to a hospital stay. Everything in her house is yellow including the walls, floors, furniture...everything. Everything smells like tar and nicotine and it's absolutely impossible to remove. No amount of washing or painting removes the color or smell from my own experience.

I can only imagine what it must to do pets who live among it all.

I have four cats and I smoke outside. Two of the cats were my Dad's. I was charged with their care after dad passed last year. He and Mom (she passed 6 years ago) smoked constantly, and didn't air out the house. I figure with the change of location, and addition of my two younger cats, dad's kitties deserved clean air. They are a helluva lot perkier now, and rarely if ever leave hairball prezzies around.

When you smoke around cats, they get crispy around the edges.

The neighbor was busy and wants us to come back later- the smoke that oozed out the door onto the porch was so intense I wanted to pass out.

At least cats can hide under beds and so forth...  but this gal is a walking smoke stack.

As much as I would love to see her 6 cats-   I do not want to go back.

You are talking about animals that lick their own asses. I doubt that they are concerned with bad odors. As to the yellow color on everything, yea, I doubt they care about that either.

I'd rather lick my own ass than live in a smoky hellhole, but I shower often.

You forget, cats have lungs, too.

No I didn't. I was responding to the comment that the lingering odor and yellow stains were going to upset them.

But just for clarification. Smoke is not good for any living being to breath. Thank god for windows.

I only smoke cat if I didn't have time to marinade it in teriyaki sauce the night before. They are kinda bland otherwise.

I have a cat and when I used to smoke (inside) his eyes would blink a lot and water and he'd press his face against the window screen.  He's an indoor only cat so I mostly smoked outside, but I often smoked inside, too.

It clearly affected him negatively.  It's no longer an issue.
