1) To What? Pay off the national debt?
That's just fucking nonsense and proves ONCE AND FOR ALL RON PAUL IS A TOTAL MENTAL CASE.
Pay off America's debts and the following day leave 90 percent of America penniless. That shows the guy's in touch.
There is not enough gold in fort knox to pay off the debt and back our savings, home loans, and retirement funds, etc. Unless they really did find the mason's buried treasure[:D][:D] Or Perhaps Ron is going to steal the declaration of independence as an encore[:D][:D][:D]

2) The day after Ron conducts his theoretic fire sale the World Enumerating Currency becomes the Renminbi ... cause my bet is the Euro will become asswipe about 12 hours after the dollar.

THIS is why although I find Neo-CONS and heh 'libertarians' (WRONG... don't exist anymore)... I find them funny as hell on SNL. But they are just a fucking witch hunt when it comes to bringing the US into the 21st century.
   I am sure if Ron is really suggesting this, he's just thrown a shit load of physical or certificated gold in a band in either Switzerland or like the Dutch Antilles or some place it'll be safe.

That is because the actual value of the gold is 56k to 67k per ounce.   Not the measely $1500.  

You don't print trillions of dollars and have the dollar hold it value.   It is not possible.

I guess his stratgegy is to plunge the entire fucking planet into a depression that will make the current or 30s one look like a boom time.
   I have a better idea. We just fucking DEFAULT on everything, have the troops come home to show we won't take any strong-arm shit and warm up a few select silos. It's a big bluff and potentially very risky. BUT NO WHERE NEAR AS RISKY AS DECLARING A FIRE SALE.
   Anyone who still supports this guy or even would sit in the same restaurant with this jaggoff for that matter, deserves to get stuck with the check.
   Th3e way this is all going, it could only mean one thing. The Republicans have either Jesus or the Antichrist tucked away somewhere and will throw em out on the campaign trail a few days after the NH Primary....  Cause they haven't fielded one credible candidate that hasn't revealed either abject stupidity, or the political equivalent of a rap sheet.

I used to like the guy, but now I have to reconsider. Sell all the gold to pay what, a few years interest ? Bullshit, something like this would make it impossible to default. It would be damn hard enough as it is. It really would be better to sell Mt. Rushmore.

1971 folks, that's how long this has been going on. The good news is Bill Clinton more or less caught us up so we were paying the debt down in large increments the bad news is since he left, Dubya got us on an almost fatal jones of kiting checks. SO BAD that the current government is unable to stop the practice without doing something drastic.
But having a fire sale isn't it.
