Status: offline 		All the time you hear dopey dommes comparing themselves to people that actually have a profession.

You hear it all the time.

They act as if their talents compare to those of a plumber, laborer, trades person and all sorts of other extremely skilled professions.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should.

It would be interesting to find out the education level of the average pro domme.

Me thinks it is very marginal.

I agree completely, dommes seem to be incredibly pompous online.

The "average" education status of a white or Asian prodomme is "working on a masters degree in an arts or humanities field." A lot of ex prodommes have advanced nonscientific degrees. Black prodommes tend on average to have less education. So, basically, much like education disparity in greater society.

This is my sense from conversations with friends of friends. So it is what I've run into, which may not represent the pool overall.

Status: offline 		Comparative literature, art history, sexual psychology, history. Masters and doctorates. Not everyone of course, but it is a large enough subset that I think there is something going on there.

Eta: yes VC I agree, findommes tend to be younger, about the age of starting phone sex operators. I think a lot of women move from one to the other.

Most pro doms I know do have a vanilla profession, though some are savvy enough to run a dungeon full time. Entrepreneurship takes a lot of time, hard work and guts.

An ethical and responsible professional dominant had better have an extensive skill set and tools of the trade, or they're no more than a hooker in costume. Not to say you can't find the latter, but they're not who we're talking about here.

Depends on whether you're talking about hookers with whips, or serious business minded women in the profession. In the former case, probably low. In the latter case, there were several PhD's and master's degrees in the one I used to manage in Berkeley, and the majority of the rest were in college or had completed at least a bachelor's degree. We actually had more femdoms with postgrad degrees (or working on them) on premises than ladies who had not gone to college at all.

Well, lemmetellya something, I suffer from clinical depression, borderline personality disorder and myriad and assorted other disorders.  I am quite capable of making sound decisions, I don't hand my money over, I know when I'm being taken advantage of and I no longer allow this to happen.  I've been told I'm too nice for my own good and that's quite true, I recognize that.  But no more, I'm looking after #1 now, and that's me.  No one else is going to do so, I've reached the age of 48 fairly well TYVM.  And I'll continue all by my lonesome until the right someone comes along and is willing to see the goodness in me and recognize that I have an illness that's managed. 

So quit referring to men who do this as mentally ill or in whatever derogatory term.  I call bullshit.  If they sign away their paycheck, become homeless because they've given all their money away, they did so knowing if the rent and the bills weren't payed they'd end up on the street.  That's not a hard thing to figure out.  And if they do have a mental illness, then someone should be looking out for them, worrying about them, and making sure this doesn't happen.  If they've isolated themselves, again, done on their own.

I've been lurking as a guest, but decided I had something to say about this. I'm not a money Domme, I don't mention it anywhere in my profile. In fact I'd never even heard of it before I joined Collarme.com. And I don't have submissive men listed as an interest.

But I get messages from them begging me to let them send me money all the time, at least every 3rd day. If there's that number of men writing me (a lez) wanting to be my personal ATM, there's a need for it for sure.
