VC - I don't think that people here are NOT trying to find partners so much as well, I don't think I want to put words in other people's mouths, but it has to do with being comfortable with ourselves or something...

I didn't mean to imply that people here weren't searching too, just...maybe that it's less often the primary objective for each post?

What is it that you think correlates being comfortable with ourselves and posting on a messageboard, as opposed to using the other side? It's an interesting POV, but I'm not sure I can quite make it fit in my head.

I don't really have it quite in my head either (and at 2 a.m. I'm just not quite right in the head in general... did that come out right? Anyway)... But it's like... the difference between going on a one on one date and going on a group date - with the group date, you're more likely (well I am anyway) to be yourself. You are there to have fun and to enjoy each other - all the folks... on a one on one one date... it's like a job interview.

Take what I'm saying right now with a pinch of salt since I need to get to bed, but that's what came to mind.

best,
sunshine

Yeah, I can see that - so the environment dictates the behaviour.

I hope you manage to get some decent sleep

LOL you guys have it lucky!! Compared to us you are so small and crowded you're positively European.  The 1st girl I met from online was only 6-1/2 hours drive away...that's considered pretty close to local up here.

I don't believe in internet people. You're all just little bits of text that sporadically appear, there's no real human being behind any of it.

VC is real, I've personally verified that, but the rest of you aren't.

You've met RCdc too, at the LAM - you were a bit out of it that day, though, you might not have registered that they were from CM.

And yes, frazzle, your laugh is that bad! :p

Allow me to preempt any awkwardness by acknowledging that none of the 176 forum regulars I have met during my 27 years of posting here can comment on how charming, witty, effusive, and delightfully leathery and musky I smell because every person with whom I have even casual contact is required to sign a legally binding Non-disclosure agreement. That is all.

Sincerely,

I haven't met anybody off the forums...yet, its in the works actually
As I stated in the "end of the world plans thread" I had plans to meet with one of the forum posters tonight. And I did. I went to a BBQ at the home of own resident anarchist and her girl, Hannah Lynn and Heather.

HL is very much like she is on here, except more thoughtful and philosophical than she appears here and actually a very caring individual in her way (but she swears even more). And Heather...well lets just say she is hilarious and a real delight. They are both a lot of fun...now if only either of them were into old men.....

<----maybe I'll phone and try talk HL into it

I've never met any of the forums regulars from CM nor have I actually met anyone as a result of CM but I do know quite a few local folks who are members of the site. None of them has ever posted in the forums to my knowledge. my instinct is that people who might meet me in person would find me more palatable in real life. It's not that I am any less harsh or sarcastic in real life... it's just that all of that is tempered by my boyish good looks.

You're still on My list, like it or not.

Before I type this all out, can I get a yeah or nay from the Mods on CM folks past and present?

I'm on a lot of people's lists. It's what keeps me on my toes. :)  I wish we'd had the opportunity to meet and hang out at 1763 while we were still relatively local. Despite some occasional stylistic differences I suspect that we'd have more in common than not. The one thing I miss most about the local munch I used to attend was not watching other people play. That was often a snooze. What I really miss was sitting around and chatting with other dominant types. Maybe some day.

Don't give up the ship yet.  My daughter and grands are still just a few hours away.  I'm not completely exiled to the great white north.  I'll be back.

Who've you met from the forums, and where they how you thought they'd be?

Kind of like a re-run/update of WyldHrt's thread about who's met who, but with an emphasis on whether they were the same online and off.

I'm waiting on an official ruling about the *real* list.  In the meantime, I'm going to type.

As I said earlier, I'm going with 98%.  I've been so glad for these opportunities.  Sometimes I met folks and then realized they had CM accounts and sometimes I met them here first.  By and large, these folks have added wonderful memories to My life.

KinkMasterDave.  This man was the general DM for 1763 for five years.  This is also the man who gave Me My cover.  I don't think I've ever met anyone to date who is so giving and compassionate.  He is just as fun in person as he's ever been here.  A thousand times more so.

Archer and Elegant.  Archer actually has a bit of a shy side, but talking with him is an experience.  I am always in awe of him.  He's not afraid of his opinion.  Sit and talk with him.  You won't go away disappointed.

Wyldhart.  You folks just don't know how wonderful she is.  This little taste you get on the boards just isn't enough.  From the inside out, she is beauty defined in My eyes.  My life is richer because she has been in it.

Calichick.  That sense of humor?  Yeah, she has it!  She is totally fun.

MsK and boijen.  Completely the same.  Talk about a firecracker who is a service type.

Leadership527.  No surprise.  They really are completely in love with each other.  He leads, she follows.  Together, they are beauty in motion, without even trying to be.

OttersSwim and SthrnCmfrt.  Awesome people.  We stayed at Thunder a couple of years back just to be in their company.  The kindness and patience that they display on these boards is the real McCoy.

SimplyMichael.  He's really not a bad guy.  We're not ever going to agree on certain things, but he'll listen.  It's not as bad as some folks might think.

There are literally scores of others and some I can't mention due to rules.  I have fond memories of so many and can't wait to meet dozens more.  Just wait until I get to England.

We went out to Chicago last year to meet Domiguy, Jefffffffff, Laurell, Lauren and chicagosub4u (I think that's her name here).
I can say without any hesitation that the opinions you have in your heads of what these people are like just from reading their words are completely accurate.
They were the funniest fucking group of people. There was no disappointment at all.
Even now...the texts I get back and forth on a regular basis with Domi and Jefffff are priceless.

The list of people I'd love to meet include Katy, Windchymes, Ron, LaTigresse, LittleWonder, Kana. Those are just a few off of the top of my head.
