Yep, Malt-o-Meal is also called cream of farina, i think.

Today is a kind of self-maintenance day. All those little beauty rituals one does and such.
i noticed the skin to the sides of my lips are quite dry, close to cracking open. i was told by a doctor this is a sign of low levels of vit B.
So, thats something new i'm going to try and add into my diet.

Does anyone else know of any physical signs to clue in that one is low on a certain vitamin ?

Does anyone really truly enjoy iceberg lettuce ? It lacks nutrition and taste, and seems a useless food to me.

I've sweated enough of my ass off today doing yard work in 90+ degree heat that I should already be at my goal now.. right? *hears cricket song* ..right?

Hot cereal is good, but not in summer. I sometimes even eat grits like that..
Lettuce is good too, definitely in summer, nice and cool and sometimes known as a "negative-calorie food" because it theoretically uses more calories to chew it up and eat it than it has in it. In fact I have some weird mutant version of it growing in my garden out back.

Breakfast: a small bowl of cheerios and milk.
Lunch: an orange and a bottle of water.
Dinner: I dunno yet. Who the heck wants to cook in this heat, for cryin' out loud? Maybe some of that lettuce and some other random cut-up veggies will help. Must find some protein, though, and soon, before I headdesk with force..

I'm fortunate to be living in this basement right now. Probably won't like it much in the winter. But yesterday it was 90 outside & I had the window open to let the heat in. I never felt more than pleasantly warm.

I had my breakfast with a little coffee in & 1/c of half decaf coffee left over from yesterday. I began to have a panic attack because I looked at my bank balance & it was going to be in the negative range after my car insurance was taken out today. I ended up taking a whole ativan to get the boogiemen at bay. Then I took a shower & looked again & Auntie June had put $300 in there. *whew* So I am going to be able to buy more veggies & yogurt & some sort of protein that isn't pork.

I haven't felt the need for a pain pill yet today & I've taken my shower & walked around the apt with only a little pain. Epic WIN!!!

right now I am finishing of some leftovers from yesterday (pork sirloin with a brown gravy and rice).

I just realize something...I don't know how to cook rice!  Mom had to do that while on the phone (everyone in town was calling her, I swear).

We are no longer buying me cases of Diet MD.  I told mom that if I am going on this diet for the surgery, I have to get my body ready for it.  besides, I found a whey protein for $19, way cheaper than what was offering online.

Will y'all be with me as my boobies decide to shrink (I want to keep the cup size).

It depends.  I got visits in June, an appt on July the 11th, another one on the 1st of August.  Those are from MHMR.

I am just waiting for the surgeon's nurse to call me up and get this thing started.

I am not sure what "soft" food is but here is some ideas that idea conjures up - i am thinking very little chewing?

scrambled eggs are good soft food.   Add some cream cheese and splenda and cinnamon for a mock danish or eggs that gives you a taste of french toast.

egg salad
not sure if its considered soft but what about shredded tuna or shredded chicken in like a casserole type thing that will soften them?

HEre are some recipe sites for "soft" food:
http://ask.metafilter.com/67626/Soft-food-recipes
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/amos/3633952/Need-Soft-Food-Recipes/

crustless french toast?

Soups with veggies soaked in them until they get soft.

whey protein shakes

what about quiches?  They are "soft" as long as you make them crustless.

angel

I haven't really been eating much, since my former houseguests took all the food out of the kitchen when they left (long story). The upside is I guess I lost a few pounds, evidenced only by the fact that my skirt fell straight off me while I was cleaning my kitchen. Luckily I was home alone!

I did go out and work in the yard today, picked up and pulled weeds. This constitutes exercise for me.

I've had 1/2 a bowl of spanish rice for breakfast, a bowl of soup for lunch and a chicken burrito for dinner. For snack tonight I'm having a fruit smoothie.

I went out to dinner tonight & ordered a spinach salad with cucumber, tomato, craisins, glazed walnuts & it was supposed to have gorgonzola on it. I waited for nearly an hour to get it & they forgot the gorgonzola. It was a good salad, except that the dressing was highly sugared, although I didn't use but 1/2 tablespoon if that, & the walnuts were the only source of protein since they left off the gorgonzola. I drank a glass of water with it.

It's difficult to find anything other than water to drink when I go out, since I don't want caffeine or sugar or aspartame or alcohol.

I plan to eat some yogurt with 1/2 T cocoa in & some cereal later.

I haven't taken a pain pill yet today. I took a shower & walked a little, went out & everything & I'm not in enough pain to warrant the pill. WOOT!!!

You're very welcome, FelineFae! Hope it helps

I had a pretty good class last night but I believe that I twisted a little sumpin sumpin extra during the "Russian Twist" exercise. My left lower back was killing me afterward but I continued on w/the class modifying the Plyometric moves.
I walked the dog when I got home & forced myself to move forward 'cuz of my back.  He was able to do his "biz"so all was well!

Every morning I drink 2 cups of coffee w/powder cream & have either 1 cinnamon raisin bagle or multi grain bagel (plain no cream cheese).  My girl always fixes me plenty to snack on throughout the day (veggies, fruit, protein bar, fat free crackers/peanut butter) so I don't eat "full meals".  When I get home in the hot weather I'll usually eat a bowl of cold cereal (Special K or Kashi) w/fruit and a bowl of fat free frozen yogurt or sherbert.

When the weather is colder I'll stick w/brown rice & veggies.
Tonight our team is playing 2 games of kickball back to back so I'll be refueling after work w/brown rice & veggies.  I don't believe that cold cereal's going to cut it!

In some of the other discussion boards where they focus on fitness and losing weight they have "challenges and competitions" amongst themselves to help them stay motivated and goal oriented.  Some are weight loss goals, some are exericise challenges, some are things like drinking all your water or getting your goal of veggies in etc.  Some of them are walking challenges.

Say for the month of june, you have a minutes exercise challenge -- people post today what their goal for exercising in minutes is for the month of June and then they strive to meet that goal in the month of June.  For example, someone who wants to do some form of actual exercise per day for 30 minutes would have a goal of 900 minutes for the month of June.  And every day they post how many minutes towards their goal they have done.  At the end since you all like posting pics and stuff you can "award" those who reach their monthly goal with some "trophy" or such which is a picture of the thing.

Just thought i would pass this idea along.

angel

Sounds like a good way to stay accountable & on track.  I'll start the ball rolling w/a minimum of minutes for June:

480 minutes for 4weeks in June on "Strength Training"
840 minutes for 4 weeks in June on "Aerobics"

**Eta my minutes to date (June 2, 2011).....**

Aerobics=155 minutes
Strength Training=60 minutes
