One of things that cracks me up about intellectual life in the USA is the hierarchy of disciplines. Medics, especially shrinks, seem to be right at the top.

Lyle is psychiatrist, not a political scientist, ABM. Why should anyone care what he thinks on this subject? The man's talking feeble-minded crap.

This guy is not an academic, he is not embraced by the academic community within the USA

The only people who care about what he says are those who do not know how to critically think

Thanks for the for the thought evocative and frankly quite startling 'news item' from wing nut daily ... bu the way.... how did you vote on the "should Sarah run?" banner that was stretched across the top of the page.
I'd point out the key flaw in constantly posting awful documentation of wild claims, but it would be completely lost on you.
The one good thing about your continual use of bad sourcing is that you don't have to be a liberal to know the stuff is total bullshit.

I happen to love grits...

I do too Tazzy!! Slow cooked grits with cheese and butter, salt and pepper. And when you put fried eggs and cheese in them I can't resist them.  Never heard of them though, til we moved down south.  My mother, bless her heart, never got the idea of grits and how to cook them.  She cooked them like cream of wheat or farina.  Eating them with sugar and milk....and loved them! LOL.  She was a perfect example of you can take the northerner out of the north, but you can't take the north out of the northerner.  She never got grits.

Well ... not entirely correct.. all the dipshits sucking down talking points from El OxyBo (You know the drug abusing and possibly at one point dealing ... I mean who sends their maid out for 6000 of any kind of pick as head stash... and no self-respecting policeman would dare parade a bust like that in front of a judge calling it 'simple possession')...
Suffice it to say his book is cited as "compelling evidence", "startling fact", blah blah blah... you know the drill.
Look on the bright side, it's a neat way to quickly identify bona fide morons.

Hominy is grits...just where I grew up, the hominy wasn't always ground as much as it should have been and you ended up with big pieces instead of the meal.

That was more information than I needed to know.

In essence, the forensic psychiatrist evaluates the competencies of certain persons to understand and accomodate lawful obligations to others. Although the potential for acquiring such competency is innate in human nature, achieving it and maintaining it is not inevitable in a given individual's personal development. One's ability to act responsibly as an adult may be derailed by many influences, including symptomatic mental illness, maladaptive personality traits, problematic relationships, and extraordinary circumstances. The justification for psychiatry's intervention into the legal system thus follows immediately from the fact that the individual's capacity to relate to others is affected by his mental and emotional state.

Muse..... there is a very important distinction here that neither the desert sockpuppet nor the site you cited. Most states (for the purpose of evaluating for fitness or testifying to the merits of criminal insanity, or even diminished capacity) are in fact these so-called forensic psychiatrists, they are in fact psychiatrists of various specialties employed generally within a state psychiatric facility and deemed superior in most cases as to their credibility (it's kind of like in a family law case where both sides introduce testimony that paints one parent or the other as fit... Often a child welfare agency will step in, or a guardian ad litem ) because they are employed by the state as the state's experts, they are considered to have a superior quality of impartiality.
Now enter the FOR HIRE 'forensic psychiatrist' he is there on behalf of the defendant more than 90 percent of the time and he is basically a very biased member of the defense team. If they pull down the defendant's pants and his dick is soft, the defense attorney leans over to him and whispers "his dick is hard". The forensic psychiatrist will face the judge and say "your honor. After a careful examination of the defendant, I have found him to have a very hard dick"

They are as honest as the desert sockpuppet is long

Hmmm... since corn came from the new world, how were the Italians messing with it first?

LMAO. Spoken by someone who probably had grits once in Denny's. Polenta is the entire kernal of yellow, hominy has the hull and germ removed from white corn. Also the process of removing the hull and germ changes the chemistry and taste completely.
