McDonalds... you are joking, right? $2000 cap. That will pay for the ER bed and thats it!

Respectfully, have ya seen who works at McDonals?!!  Young kids... shit, when I was that age, you could throw my ass down a flight of stairs and spring back up!!! Now?  Don't get me started... [:D] lol

A bit of a generalization. The real rebuttal to the "$2,000 cap" argument is that Obamacare doesnt help the companies with those kind of limited benefits, because they are all getting waivers and they will continue to do so or they will end all health care and send them to the exchanges...which of course is the goal of Obamacare. Single payer via the exchanges.

Actually, wasn't Micky-D's one of the Corporations that got a WAIVER?!!  I thought I read/heard that somewhere???

Yes, that was my point. Obamacare doesnt do shit for employees of companies with limited benefits like they have and never will.

tazzygirl -> RE: Free College. (6/1/2011 3:58:12 PM)

Many companies just got a waiver.

The idea behind that is these companies can drop those insurance policies at this point. If they do, those with even minimum coverage will be left with no coverage. Add more to the cost poll. At least with the small coverage they do get, they can see a Dr in the office and not have to use the ER.

So now your defending the $2000 cap policies, right after demeaning them?

Cuba has no drugs? No crime?

What a WASTE of time.  You think there is better health care in Cuba?  Well...back to the maternal death rates then:

http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.STA.MMRT

Let's see...Cuba 53 to U.S. 24.  It is OK, hon, you can deride your country if it makes you feel better.  You can worship socialists like Castro and Obama.

She uses maternal... the medical community uses infant. Try those numbers again.

Fine then... if your premise is ID's don't mean shit, then you should be just as outraged that our laws are being broken, and DEMAND that "Jose" (or whomever) provides proof of citizenship prior to obtaining an ID.  Keep in mind, of course, that this sort of thing (i.e., giving non-citizens IDs) is not wide-spread... so it's not like its going to affect every State in the Union.  As such, I support the requirement to present identification when voting -- as opposed to just ignoring it because "Jose" in Californa might have gotten away with it.

As I said, just because I offer citations for things that happen doesnt mean I support those things.

You asked...

quote:

Simple questions for you...

1) Should non-citizens be allowed to vote?

2) Should non-citizens be given IDs (appearing as citizens) that wold allow them to vote?

To which I said no to both questions.

I have no problem with that.

I do... I like my Health Insurance, and don't wanna be dumped into some State system.  Urkel's shit bill has already forced me to change my plan because the rates shot up after the ass-hats in DC passed that piece of shit bill.

Until 2014, something is better than nothing, which is what the Republicans are offering... nothing.

Rates were shooting up for years.

And you also stated, "But its perfectly OK to force people to buy an ID just to vote."

Yes, it is... if they wanna vote, then they have to buy/present Idenification.  If some non-citizens get away with the crime of passing themselves off a citizen, so be it... the vast majority won't.

tazzygirl -> RE: Free College. (6/1/2011 4:11:13 PM)

And they shot up 10-15% more than they were scheduled too once O'care passed.

tazzygirl -> RE: Free College. (6/1/2011 4:12:55 PM)

So?  That doesn't change the fact that they SIGNIFICANTLY JUMPED as a direct result to the shit bill.  That crappy bill caused HUGE jumps in healthcare premiums because insurance companies HAD to start covering a host of things they didn't before.  The price of cars generally goes up a bit every year... but if you went to buy a car and they suddenly jumped some 30% or 40% after the passage of some auto regulations, that's not excused away as, "Oh well... car prices have been going up for years."  Urkel's shit bill was DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the price "shooting up" as much as it did -- despite the LIE that it would LOWER premiums.

Oh, you meant prove it about the rates. My clients employee over 60,000 people. Their 2010 premiums were scheduled to increase an average of 9%, both HMO and indemnity. As soon as Ocare was passed the carriers withdrew their proposals and subsitituted increses of 15-20%. there is likely to be a strike over it this summer.

Smaller clients fared worse.

tazzygirl -> RE: Free College. (6/1/2011 4:19:35 PM)

Prove it. Everyone against this thing has claimed that rates jumped. Those in favor have said they were going up.

If that is your belief, that insurance rates jumped as a direct result of the health care law... prove it.
