yeah, I love the 'risky' airports...  of course, I like heavy turbulence too, when I fly...

I totally agree w/ you about C. De Gaulle.

I'm going to third Charles De Gaulle as terrible. No signs for the gate numbers? Really? You have to wander around reading every sign board hoping to catch it at the right time and to find the one which actually pertains to your flight (that's if you are actually in the correct wing to start with and it really helps if you speak French - I don't.)

I don't like Linnate.. too small & dirty and don't like Malpensa because it's so far, looooooooooong ass lines and costs an arm and a leg to get to Milan by cab but it is pretty easy to navi there. We never took a flight into Rome, but if you get the chance to bullet train from north to south, go first class.. it's just a few Euros more and the trip is soooooooooo worth it!)

I can't remember the name of the airport in Switzerland, but it was charming and when we were there they had the craziest, coolest car show going on so we had something to do while waiting for our connecting.

There is actually a very cool shuttle train to Malpensa, a lot more comfy than the bus option and faster, and you end up in the middle of the city and it's very close to the gates. Linate, Bergamo and Malpensa are all quite annoying, after they built them, they found out that they have a lot of turbulences (Bergamo slightly less) so delays are the order of the day.

I think you must be talking about Zuerich airport in Switzerland, they usually have pretty cool shows going on and the airport has a nice lay out, easy to navigate, Geneva is a pain in the neck when it comes to the security checks, the Swizz take their security checks very seriously, but in Geneva cuing up is taken to a new level, and NEVER EVER use their phones with a credit card, they have a minimum charge there that's horrific (I think 15 Euros) so a phone call of 1 minute could cost you a fortune, even the charges for using your mobile abroad are cheaper! Basel airport is fine if you time your arrival or departure during less busy times, when it's busy they are so understaffed that you can stand an hour in the line, both airports are seriously small. I only planned to change flights at Bern airport and said I'd never ever use it again, each time the flights were diverted because it's a complete and utter fog hole... I have limited experience with Lugano airport (only used it for a school reunion - which was a waste of time anyway) and what a pain in the neck, they tell you the train station is a short walk away - well about 20 minutes and with luggage not so short, especially on a hot summer day, if I'd have known it I'd have grabbed a cab... But the staff at the airport was superb, security check was one of the fastest ever and they must have the nicest security people ever, they even help you out of the jacket like gents... Still, didn't make up for trekking in high heels and with luggage to the damned train station...
I guess Switzerland has a few more airports but as I said, if I can I stick with Zuerich...

Greedy, we'd be good travel buddies, I like turbulence too!
Most people don't understand what turbulence is anyway. They think for some reason that the wings are going to fall off.
Those wings on an aircraft can be ratcheted up to about 80 degrees from the horizontal before they break!

Reminds me of a flight a few years ago to London, take off was hours delayed because of massive storms, so we finally started, wonderful rocky flight and the flight back the same evening even worse, an old lady next to me was clutching the armrests and was so afraid, she was mumbling that we'd all die, I tried to relax her by telling her that the plane is flown by a computer anyway, the pilot doesn't do much, pilots are just needed for the take off and the landing, so no worries about almost falling onto my lap and the drinks flying through the cabins, all the computer... Instead of calming down, she started to scream and panic completely, one of the flight attendants suggested I stop trying to calm the old lady down...

I love the Colorado Springs airport.  It used to take me a half hour from parking my car till I was at the gate, security and all.  You can get a breakfast there for $5 or $6, and they used to have artwork from the middle and high school kids on the walls.  I once had TSA flag me there with a penknife, and I was able to drop off the knife in an envelope at an airport gift shop, waiting for me when I returned.  And they had free Wi-Fi years before the Denver airport did.

when I lived in the ATL area back in the early 90s, the house was in the flight path of Dobbins AFB, literally off the end of the runway.. it was WAY cool to see the Navy fighters (F15s??)  fly over.. often we could see into the canopies!!

We knew that we were going to war before Desert Storm was announced because of all the huge cargo helicopters  flying constantly overhead bringing in supplies.

Too funny. "Don't worry lady, we'll all be incinerated anyway! You won't feel a thing!"
