Ive got to give you credit

When it comes to blaming it on Bush, whatever "it" happens to be - youre the king.

quote:

This is bush`s and his shithead`s fuckup.

You bushies threw the world`s economy into the gutter and we`re still trying to get out.

I already explained it.

If he could afford cable TV and watched "Too Big To Fail" it mind remind him of the actual events, who was in control of the House, who wrote TARP, what party defeated it the first time and did their best to defeat it the second time, and what party amended an unrelated Democrap House bill in order to circumvent the origination clause of the Constitution. But he must have missed paying his cable bill, thanks to the education he didnt get from Hudson County public schools.

but yeah, its Bush's fault.

Well, if the machine that is the global economy is to be kept moving and serving those that benefit from it, bail outs will have to happen simple as that, as the more that fall out of the global economy will eventually mean less income, the thing falls apart and those on the make lose out.

and entering it via wrong numbers wasn't great either [8|]

Which party sponsored the Banking Modernization act and the Commodity Futures Trading Modernization act? That's right, cable TV didn't mention much about it. That's why informed people read more than watch cable television. Not much education needed to watch the tube, which explains your 'knowledge base,' such as it is.

Willbur is just mad because Bush doesnt match up to Obama. It`s easy enough to blame the deficit on the new guy, whilst ignoring how it originated.

We can thank Goldman Sachs for their help in that. I'm surprised that neither article mentioned them.

Here's one from Der Spiegel, though I regret to say I can't find the original deutsche Sprache version for you:

http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518,676634,00.html

The currency swaps were effectively a 'lower the payment' scheme in exchange for lengthening the terms of the loan, with a maturity payment 10-15 years later.

Here's the FT story linking to the previous one:

http://ftalphaville.ft.com/blog/2010/02/09/145201/goldmans-trojan-greek-currency-swap/

Even aside from all that, I don't understand how Greece was let in in the first place. No wonder the UK and Scandinavia wanted no part in it.

All the partisan blame on both sides is nothing but seeing what each wants to see.

The bailouts were going to happen, no matter who took the White House or Congress.

Whether they were a good idea is debatable. Helpful? Somewhat. But definitely at a cost, no denying that. Could it have been done better? Probably. Would it have been done better, by either party? I really doubt that. Politics is paramount on the Hill.

Its a pity that the people of Greece do not understand that their enemy is not their government, but rather their enemy is the global financial world.

CNBC this morning shows Dow futures here are up over the police in Greece getting the upper hand on protests.  What sucks for Main St is good for Wall St.

Some talking head just suggested that if Greece went to all-electronic currency, they could stop all the tax cheats there and close 80% of the shortfall. Amazing how the grand solution always involves a loss of financial privacy, and assigning all the peons a number. The Bilderberg plan is almost complete.

Just who borrowed all this money?

EternalHoH -> RE: US to bail out Greece? (6/29/2011 5:19:12 AM)

You think the crisis is about borrowing? lol

Well, not everyone is as smart as you.

How could they be???

This is what happens when the government creates an extreme sense of entitlement through a nanny state welfare system. Ultimately, it is unsustainable and try to remove entitlements once you give it to the people in a corrupt attempt to buy votes in the short term. A lot of other EU countries will follow suit.

Edwynn -> RE: US to bail out Greece? (6/29/2011 3:54:00 PM)

The social system in European countries varies quite a bit.

Don't count that anytime soon.

They actually have both a better tax collection system and a better regulatory system than the poor excuse for either broken arrangement in Greece or the US.

If you want to see who's following Greece, you'd best pay attention here.

Sanity -> RE: US to bail out Greece? (6/29/2011 4:42:49 PM)

The socialists have done so much harm to Greece that its the socialist government there that is being forced into austerity

How ironic that the socialists are rioting against the socialists

BFD..... Greece is just one socialist country. Scummy bankers like Goldmans made fortunes hiding the truth of Greek debt. Tax avoidance is rife.

Slavehandsome -> RE: US to bail out Greece? (6/29/2011 5:06:16 PM)

If the U.S. will simply raise the debt limit, then the U.S. can bailout Greece, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Russia (nope, Russia is debt-free), Afghanistan, Iran, Malaysia, and Fiji. And California.

Sanity -> RE: US to bail out Greece? (6/29/2011 5:23:13 PM)

Good point!

Damned Republicans, they just dont care, do they... [:(]

Edwynn -> RE: US to bail out Greece? (6/29/2011 11:35:41 PM)

What are you talking about?

Republicans care quite allot, as they damn well should, considering how much they get paid to care about what they are paid to care about. A few trillion for wars, a few trillion for bailouts, pretty soon we're talking real money here.

We still give millions in subsidies to an oil company who makes twice the profit of the next highest level profit company, don't we?

If anybody says that Republicans don't care, they aren't paying attention.

PS

I'm not much the fan of Democrats either, just to have that straight.
