See? They always ALWAYS resort to the ad hominem attack. It is the only thing they can do. Call names. Stupid this. Idiot. Bla bla. This is the high intelligence from the left. Predictable. Funny. Speaking of coulter, she wrote a new book on the mob mentality of the left.. "group think" that is spot on.

Like you show SO much respect?...laughable!

I was actually quoting your article.... wow, did you read the fucking thing?

quote:

Beyond these silly caricatures, the same minds tend to view all military and police as small minded, atavistic brutes, and see conservatives as living in trailer parks (or as having been somehow trained in them, retaining their trailer park values as they have become indecently wealthy by selling cars).

quote:

It is no coincidence that political liberals thickly populate some of the wealthiest and best educated coastal and urban communities in America. They are bound together, not only by a political religion, but by shared experiences. For the most part, they constitute social cohorts that enjoy six linked sets of shared assumptions and attitudes:

Notice, in his argument, we all unfairly think that conservatives live in trailer parks ( I don't) and yet he lumps us as all living in these well educated ivory tower communities divorced from reality[8|]

The laughable part is that I was pulling from the argument that the person HE POSTED made..... and then he said that it was me attacking him...

How can a person debate such nonsense?

LillyBoPeep -> RE: For the left, it is their religion (6/11/2011 12:08:00 PM)

exactly julia -- honestly that article seems more like rich city people vs. poor country people, than anything particularly political. and hating rich people is a pretty popular stance so it's easy to equate those "evil liberals" with "evil rich people" and have some kind of effect. =p the author makes what should be an insulting assumption about the people he claims to sympathize with, all for a jab at those "rotten liberals." =p

(gah, why am i posting over here?)

mnottertail -> RE: For the left, it is their religion (6/11/2011 12:17:42 PM)

I assume that any claim to conservatism rests in sucking people off at the minneapolis airport during the Republican National Convention. Because it certainly does not stand in any form of logic, reason or fact.

Someone analyses liberalism based on false and wholly unprovable premises, here is a sampling...

The religion of political liberalism has three principal canons:

Nationalization of charity.

Humanitarian endeavors cannot be effectively performed, nor equitably supported unless they are done by government agencies. This has the virtue of insulating its adherents from real moral claims on their personal resources. In effect, the political-moral stance that begins with the phrase-- “I support….(you can fill in the blanks with a liberal cause here)” becomes the equivalent of “I gave at the office.”

This is not a position widely held by liberals. If it were there should be any number of citations of this, but like Joe the Plumber it is a contrived and unrealistic hypothetical.

Then when someone points out that it is laughable asswipe and devoid of fact then there is no attempt to remedy the situation, it is simply repeated.

So, back to fact:  Why is it that conservatives need to suck each other off at the minneapolis airport?

Answer the question without namecalling, ad hominems, mob mentality, derailing or strawmanning or falsity and intellectual dishonesty or dissembling.

Kirata -> RE: For the left, it is their religion (6/11/2011 12:27:12 PM)

Let me define my terms. All thinking people who respect human life and dignity are liberals in the larger sense... But in the “fevered minds” of political liberals, these sentiments become conflated into an epic struggle against the grotesque foes of all that is good and true.

He has a point. But, there are people like that on both ends of the political spectrum. And by conspicuously neglecting to trouble himself with addressing the equally "fevered minds" on the conservative end of the spectrum, he has firmly established himself as one of them.

kalikshama -> Ann Coulter is the hater (6/11/2011 12:43:01 PM)

quote:

Ask yourself how many hate hate hate Palin threads are enough

What prevails in Palin threads is ridicule, not hate.

Ann Coulter is hateful: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Ann_Coulter

"We know who the homicidal maniacs are. They are the ones cheering and dancing right now.
We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building."

"I'm getting a little fed up with hearing about, oh, civilian casualties. I think we ought to nuke North Korea right now just to give the rest of the world a warning."

On Canada, "When you're allowed to exist on the same continent of the United States of America, protecting you with a nuclear shield around you, you're polite and you support us when we've been attacked on our own soil. They violated that protocol. … They better hope the United States doesn't roll over one night and crush them. They are lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent."

There damn sure seems to be in some minds. On both sides.

Ironically, though, most of it these days comes from the right. Methinks he projecteth too much.

Sanity -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 1:27:20 PM)

No, Moore is a joke who practically no one takes seriously. contrast that with leftist hate for conservative figures and theres no comparison

I cant really even think of anyone on the left who is taken nearly as seriously as Coulter et al

quote:

ORIGINAL: juliaoceania

quote:

Right, the reason being that the left doesnt "do" reason, what it does is hate and rage.

I could see you making the argument that Michael Moore does the same thing as Coulter. I can't think of generalizations he has made to the same extent, but I bet you might be able to find some. Michael moore isn't popular with many people on the left for this reason...

The thing you aren't getting here, many people who agree with your politics can't stand coulter for the reasons I have stated, maybe you might start looking at what they have to say about her.

farglebargle -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 1:28:28 PM)

Miss Coulters premise isnt that leftists are demonic. In her book she shows how mobs act demonic, and how leftists act like mobs (as in these continual frenzied attacks against Sarah Palin).

quote:

ORIGINAL: juliaoceania

You know, there is nothing hateful whatsoever with calling Lefties "demons".... That is more of an affectionate nickname doncha know

Did I just hear someone criticize others for not being RATIONAL?

What the fuck kind of animal is a DEMON, and exactly what scientific research quantified how they act?

Or is this more of that Crazy Religious Extremist bullshit?

And if you're predicating an argument on MYTHOLOGICAL ENTITIES WHICH DON'T EXIST IN OBJECTIVE REALITY, then aren't you also violating Ayn Rand's First Commandment?

A is not an Angel. A is A.

Look it's clear that Coulter paid attention to The King Of All Media and understands that controversy == ratings ( at least for your core audience ). And she *needs* to sell books. If she doesn't, the advance doesn't get paid back, much less her making anything other than that advance....

At best you could say her crazy, inflammatory rhetoric is hyperbole aimed at pointing out -- i dunno... Something... But it's really narrowly tailored to move books, first.

But if all you offer is hyperbole, how rational is your argument at it's center?

So, we're back to, "If you're going to mythological entities, you're not constructing what anyone would call a RATIONAL argument in the first place", and if you look at it as "Coulter's JOB is to sell books, not construct rational arguments", then her failure to construct rational arguments makes sense.

And there is a reason that nobody on the left takes them seriously, only people on the right.  It has to do with the fact that the are devoid of truth, fact, reason, and logic.

DomKen -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 2:38:42 PM)

quote:

Ken wanted me to attack Coulter via another angle, he brough up another book because apparently he thinks he has an ambush for me there, why take the haters bait when its just the same old, same old leftist tactic, attack the messenger, obfuscate the message.

What I ask myself is, why enable that mob mentality, you know? Why go there.

No, liar, I don't have an ambush for you. I told you she was wrong. I told you that if she had "good points" (not qualified in any way in your original claim) then there must be some, in your opinion, in her book on evolution. If you cannot defend the one book of hers where she makes factual claims in one of my areas of expertise why should I expect any of her claims, on anything, to hold up?

Actually the real reason you won't, I suspect, is you have never read any of her books and are relying on something you read about the recent book on Drudge or one of the other right wing blogs you get most of your pablum from.
