No, Moore is a joke who practically no one takes seriously. contrast that with leftist hate for conservative figures and theres no comparison

I cant really even think of anyone on the left who is taken nearly as seriously as Coulter et al

I do not take Coulter seriously.... most people I know (meaning of all poliitcal stripes) are repelled by her rhetoric, which is really low class, nasty, and filled with hatred. She is a very divisive figure, a la Rush Limbaugh, etc.

No, liar, I don't have an ambush for you. I told you she was wrong. I told you that if she had "good points" (not qualified in any way in your original claim) then there must be some, in your opinion, in her book on evolution. If you cannot defend the one book of hers where she makes factual claims in one of my areas of expertise why should I expect any of her claims, on anything, to hold up?

Actually the real reason you won't, I suspect, is you have never read any of her books and are relying on something you read about the recent book on Drudge or one of the other right wing blogs you get most of your pablum from.

You made one of those pesky "gotcha" arguments... doncha know... *wink wink*

DomKen -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 3:45:04 PM)

oops my bad, I forgot assuming conservative have actually read something they are talking about is a gotcha. It's so hard to get used to a world where actually having read some books and newspapers is a liberal "thang."

Moonhead -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 3:45:45 PM)

7 pages of debate about: "I totly pwned Sorebutt. Lol."?
Dearie me...

Lucylastic -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 4:03:05 PM)

oh you had to be here Moon, it was fun poking holes in every post:)
disgraceful behaviour of course *tsk tsk* but there was much slinking away, ...made an old lady snicker with joy

Our political discourse was much more one sided.

Yes, the side of civility

Your side took a general dip in the intellectual department when Buckley died

One would have to be seriously filled with hate to bore through 25,000 pages of emails looking for tidbits they can use to sling more shit towards Palin.

Ya think it'll take 25k pages to get to the emails to the director of transportation for Alaska? The ones where she uses her office to vindictively fire an in-law from the state police? Seriously, that's all the way at the end?
Seriously, you think anybody with any common sense is going to read that via some NYT GUI?
Dude, it's already out there on file sharing sites being sliced and diced for the juicy parts. Won't be any need for anybody who hates Sarah Palin to do anything but sit back and wait a few days. Sarah's in good hands, a couple hundred thousand kids with nothing better to do that bust balls are going to find whatever's worth reading and pass that around the world.
Nice though that people are that concerned about our reading workloads. That's mighty kind of you[8D]

Honestly, I don't give one shit about your reading habits. The "couple hundred thousand kids" would almost say it all, if it weren't for the frothing slobber dripping from the jowls of those hoping they find something to bust balls over.

Shrug. But hell, someone has to have their panties in a wad. Go for it dude.

Leftists absolutely cannot stand dissent, and thats the bottom line.

Again, thats some really twisted logic ken. Ive explained why, Kirata has explained why... I dont mean to be insulting but the reason as to why its twisted is really very simple, and I dont believe I or anyone else can possibly break it down any further for you.

No surprises so far... [8|]

quote:

Sarah Palin emails: Enemies sent a series of death threats

The release of 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin's emails shows that she received a barrage of abusive emails including death threats in the run up to the 2008 presidential race.

Sanity -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 7:05:56 PM)

The above context reveals how, in the minds of certain people who shall remain nameless, "civil discourse" means that dissent is effectively silenced, and that anyone who does dissent is obviously "intellectually inferior" and thus for all intents and purposes subhuman.

Well, yanno, on a civility scale ya gotta admit that subhuman is a lot nicer than demonic. [:D]

Lucylastic -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 7:11:19 PM)

oh damn that was almost too easy
LMFAO

Sanity -> RE: The Palin Emails (6/11/2011 8:09:55 PM)

Well, yanno, maybe you should try again because no one has said that leftists are demonic.  [;)]

The point is that if leftists dont like their behavior being compared to that of riotous mobs then perhaps they should try to behave a little more civilly.

That message coming from a woman that attacked victims of 911 because they had questions that disagreed with her political agenda seems a tad hypocritical...

She makes money off of drumming up mobs (tea party sorts)

That is just perception. Its always been the same, its just more public now. Tell Alexander Hamilton how much worse political discourse is now.

You're the one claiming she made good points. In an area where I am something of an expert she was spectacularly wrong. Why should I believe your claim when she is so completely wrong on the subject I do know about?

Not to defend Coulter (I've never read a single thing she's ever written) but ferchrissake, the proposition that if someone is found to be mistaken about some things one may safely judge them to be wrong about everything is just fucking batshit.

If everyone thought like that, nobody would bother reading your posts.

Particularly when the person is writing opinions.

However, there is a need to assess a purported authority's prior accuracy in considering something they write. "Appeal to authority" is not a logical fallacy unless the appeal is to a discredited authority.
