I love getting food on the street - everywhere I've been has had its own special delicacy.  In Rome I discovered roasted chestnuts, Philadelphia has the best pretzels with this crazy mustard for like 35 cents (it's probably 50 now!).  In Peru I used to buy prickly pears on a hot summer day.  In New York of course hot dogs, and here in Korea they have these little fish shaped breads that have red bean paste in them.

Anybody else love street food?

*drools at the memories of Philly pretzels and NYC hot dogs...*

I havent found anything else to compare.

although, the 'waffles' sold by street vendors in Paris were pretty tasty

in Philly there's a vegetarian middle eastern street vendor truck that is delicious! I wish I could remember the name of it right now. You'd never think that you were eating vegetarian. Yummy.

I think the street vendors are fun, easy and cheap when you just want to get out and stroll or you're in too much of a rush for anything else.

We have a food cart at work that I usually order knishes or a hot dog in the summer and just sit in the park during my lunch break at work or when I have to run errands at work and I don't have time for a sit down lunch.

Oh god yes!! In Tokyo they have these guys who sell little kebabs of grilled pigs stomach (tastes WAY better than it sounds...trust me), and little places that while not on the street, have no "inside". you go up to a window and get your stuff and eat it on the street. And they sell Unagi!!. Damn that stuff is good. And curry bars, where you stand at a counter and eat. And Giudon! And....well suffice to say, Tokyo is a street foodie's paradise.

Here in Ottawa we have chip wagons everywhere. In Kep (a seaside town in Cambodia where we spent some vacation time) they sold waffles served on a banana leaf, fried bananas, and BBQ chicken necks (again, better than it sounds).

the one on jfk blvd I think is Falafel King.

It's a good one as well but I don't think he's vegetarian although has a lot of veggie options.

Yes, in Amsterdam! I fell in love with the stroopwafels (prounced strope-vaffels), which are like brown sugary wafers with a caramelly brown sugary filling sandwiched in between. Sort of a cookie, and when they're fresh and warm, they're melt-in-your-mouth-die-for.

Also, the kipperling, little fish nuggets with a really light coating and deep-fried, served in a paper cup. Heaven!

Egads you couldn't pay me enough to eat one of those disgusting dirty water New York dogs ever again, a hot dog is supposed to be grilled with onions on a buttered toasted bun, not boiled in water that is....questionable. Sorry I digress!!! No spanking please!!

Okay street food. One of my faves was ceviche sold in little paper cups in Cozumel. It was delicous! Also loved the fries served in the paper cones with flavored mayos in Belgium, the delicous bratwurst on a stick we had in Frankfurt, apple rings in carts in Munich, and all the pastries in Paris, ALL of them. .

We have tons of awesome street food right here in the summer. The crab shack has mini crab rolls buttery and toasted wrapped in foil for 5 bucks, loaded with fresh crab. Also Scott's cart has the best papercones with fresh fried maine clams and homemade tarter sauce at his little shack downtown, always a line but worth the wait.

In Paris there are kiosks scattered about on main boulevards that sell the most delicious chicken sandwiches I've ever eaten.  Real, not processed, chicken on crispy baguettes.  Mmmmm.
