I have been belly dancing for three years now, still in the basic learner stage, but that suits me, as initially I started doing it to do something about my perpetual back problems and dyspraxia, now, Ijust love it, the movement is so natural and one finds one can put the moves to any music, death metal was an unusual one, but it came naturally.. My dance teacher keeps trying to get me to move out of the beginners class, as according to her, I am beyond basic, but moving out of the beginners class means performances and I am not yet mentally ready for the that, me being kind of shy in some respects.. But what I am learning is mostly North African style with and emphasis on Egyptian, althouh sometimes Morrocan style is added, also tribal fusion, as I find tribal fusion much easier to do, the hand signals used by teacher of the Fat Chance school helps with my questioning of which direction to turn. I have also learned a bit of bhangra, not bellydance, but it's different sometimes. But for a lifelong non dancer, not even disco through no co ordination which I found out later was called dyspraxia, I find I just love bellydance and wish I had started it earlier. My favourite dancer inspirational videos are; Rachel Brice Dancme Acadamie Mexicala Nath Keo and JasonStyles Cycle Of Life Frank Farinaro Hammerhead Sharki Snake Charmer This more for letch value, what a woman ! Edward Yao Oh, and I dont buy into this dance masculine if you are a male bullshit, if the dance is to be natural dance how itcomes from you, how it comes across is also natural, be a natural being before a stereotype.
