Didn't read the link did you?

More riots occurred after the local team won than when they lost.

Montreal: 2010, 2008, 1993, 1986,

Edmonton: 2006

And hockey riots are a CANADIAN thing.

If Boston had lost-  would there be riots?  In Boston,  not CA.

Imo, even if the Canucks had won the drunken idjits would have still started a riot in Vancouver. For someone hell bent on being rowdy and creating chaos, any excuse flies. I dont know about Boston tho.

That is a good point.

Arp:
the link you posted...
A list of significant hockey riots in Canada

Because that's where hockey riots happen...in Canada

The rest of the world has riots over insignificant things like racial prejudice, political oppression, minor stuff like that. In Canada we are more civilized and only riot over important things. Hockey is important, so we riot over that.

pahunkboy -> RE: USPS Not mailing to canada (6/18/2011 7:43:19 PM)

I never heard of anyone in the US rioting over a hockey game... so you could be right.

basket ball- yes.    hockey no.

College sports in the USA. I am not so sure about the professional ones.

When KU won the Final Four and then the National Championship game a couple years ago, we had helicopters flying over Massachusetts Street because of the horde of people that converged there. They were able to keep the damage to a minimum. Thankfully.

As far as legislating the postal workers to end their strike, in the 80's Reagan decreed that UPS was not allowed to strike because of the disruption in services that it would cause.

Well, not exactly.. There are riots at G8 summits (Toronto 2010) and Apec and such events... dont know how many of the shit disturbers were not Canadian tho. Those things tend to be organized (but then that shit disturbing Greenpeace was started by a shit disturbing Canadian). [8|]

Arpig -> RE: USPS Not mailing to canada (6/18/2011 8:28:29 PM)

The G8 stuff was mostly American imports instigating it (It had nothing to do with hockey, so it obviously wasn't Canadians behind it), and the Greenpeace stuff, well protecting the wilderness is important as well, if we don't then we won't have anywhere to build our cottages, and thus nowhere to go relax and watch the playoffs without risking being caught in a riot.

See, our countries have different national priorities.

pahunkboy -> RE: USPS Not mailing to canada (6/18/2011 8:31:17 PM)

^  yup.   There also was some hoopla in Montreal.  I forget the details.

Arp was speaking in generalizations.

The g20 in Pittsburgh was no bowl of cherries.   The list would be too long to mention US riots in the past.

Sorry Hunky, Arp wasn't speaking in generalities, Arp was speaking in sillyalities. Arp is goofing around and hijacking the shit out of Lucy's perfectly good thread purely for the sake of shits and giggles. (Sorry Lucy).

No, just a few Budweisers, no damn sleep, and too many tears. Together that makes for a slightly inebriating blend. [:D]

In 1979 I was a Freshman in college at Indiana State(Larry The Legend Bird) and when we lost to Michigan State(Magic Johnson) I participated in a small riot in downtown Terre Haute, Indiana.

My first and last riot, but, can't say I didn't have FUN!....[8D]

Didn't burn anything, did chuck a few items at the local police...then ran!... I was an unruly little bastard!...

GreedyTop -> RE: USPS Not mailing to canada (6/19/2011 6:18:45 AM)
