I was a SF geek before being an SF geek was cool... I remember watching StarTrek. The FIRST time it was on the air. Lost in Space (the first 5 - 6 eps when Dr. Smith was really EVIL, before they turned him into a buffoon). Dark Shadows. Galactica (ver 1.0 AND 2.0), Bab5, Farscape, Firefly, StarGate (and SG-1 and Atlantis), ST:TNG and DS9. I started playing D&D when it was D&D (NOT AD&D) and it came in a boxed, digest sized, 3-book set (circa 1977). I was going to SF and gaming cons in the late 70's - early 80's, and I've been doing Dragon*Con since 1990 when Tom Clancy was the GOH (I've been on _staff_ at D*C since 1994!). I read everything from Asimov to Zelazny, King & Koontz & Straub, & Laurell Hamilton & Tonya Huff & Sherry Kenyon & Leslie Banks... I think it is more of a case that kinksters are drawn to SF/fantasy than the other way around. The SF/fantasy/gaming crowd is, for the most part, far more accepting of those who are "different", the ones who don't fit in, the ones who fall outside societal norms. In the genre there is more experimentation of gender and roles and alternative sexuality. No one can tell me, with a straight face, that Klingons are not the SM crowd of the StarTrek Universe. And lets not forget Robert Heinlein's brilliant works like Stranger in a Strange Land, Job, and others. StarTrek spawned it's own sub-genre in gay fan-fic stories about Kirk and Spock... And that whole alternate evil Empire Universe... Helllllooooooo NURSE! Cisco was banging his wife, Kyra AND Dax! WOOT! *LOL* And someone, please, tell me Laurell K. Hamilton ain't gotta clue about this lifestyle, or poly? She's either one of us, or she's got way, Way, WAY too much access for a vanilla! *lol* And Susan Wright, spokesperson for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (http://www.ncsfreedom.org) has written 11 StarTrek novels among her many other works... Oh yeah.. the SF/Fantasy/Gaming world is full of pervs, and you betcha, there's a lotta cross-over! Good thing in my opinion.. I can go to Dragon*Con leading my girls around on a leash and no one bats an eye! *LMAO* YIK, - Geoff
