You have to be extremely naive to believe that the Republicans have held up drilling anywhere near to the extent that Dems have, or to ignore how proudly Dems have been of their fight against recovering carbon fuels Or to ignore how vociferously Dems have engaged in demonizing Republicans as well as the oil industry over the issue in the past That the Dems want to be a johnny-come-lately to the affordable energy party is nothing but a joke

Youre not making much sense taz. Just to begin with, Slate isnt much of a source and it didnt specify what the considerations are. We aren't going to develop vast new sources in the U.S. just yet. Why would we? World oil is much cheaper. When oil prices in time climb, then extracting all that oil from harder to reach and through more expensive processes will be economical. We'll also have a larger share of the world marker (unless other untapped sources are then tapped as well).
