i was just saving keystrokes.

actually buddhism holds a lot of appeal to me, in its theravada form, before they fucked it up by deifying gautama adding all the fucking bodhisattvas and shit. its a fine fucking example of constructing a moral, ethical, and philosophical world view that fulfills all the functions of a religion without needing a fucking deity to hang it on. all the fucking answers are within you, you only need to look within. it's the reality is an illusion shit i just don't buy, so i'm not a buddhist.

There's a world of difference between "disproved" and a lack of conclusive evidence. "Ample evidence against" is problematic in this case, in that there's much left to be explained. But investigating some causal/unifying force is hardly "delusional," and plenty of supporting, if not conclusive, evidence is fronted by several spiritual approaches in support of their take on this.

To pretend there's nothing, with no proof of that either, is arrogant, and certainly delusional regarding your reasoning abilities.

I think you are right. Maybe that's why she loves the word "fuck" so much. I remember when I was a kid and the girl down the street started a "swearing club". You couldn't join unless you said at least one swear word in every sentence. She would have fit right in there.

Last time I talked with a theology professor about it, he said there are about 30 different Islam branches and schools. You feel about as touchy about that?

Status: offline 		no it isn't, its a statement of the claim to primacy of the god giving the fucking commandments. in fact plurality is pretty much specified in the wording. if there is only one god, then why would he need a fucking commandment against placing other gods <note that the word is plural> above him.

the wording is the same in the greek and the hebrew, so its pretty fucking clear what the meaning is.

I thought this was a fun topic, every thread isn't started because people are "touchy".
I do think there is a big difference between:

New Age Christians, Quakers, Catholics and African Initiated Churches.

Also, every thread is not started with the purpose of everyone agreeing on the topic, most threads are started for the sake of discussion, especially in the Politics and Religion section.

I see your point.
In my world, I see her in category similar to the phenoma known as the "shock-jock" genre type of personality.
I work with young people and using a lot of curse words is supposed to be shocking and a very big deal.

It really rattles many peoples cages, but it takes more than a person who enjoys using a slew of curse words to rattle my cage.

If anything she makes me laugh.

I find Fundamental Atheists to be fascinating, because with a few simple word edits to the definition you presented above, you get a zealous Fundamental Christian, the very person they often claim to despise and the source of the intolerance and persecution they are forced to endure.
