How in the world did this get from Racism to Clinton?...Quite the extrapolation!

At any rate, racism is endemic to human behavior, the Southern United States simply made it an art form!

Yes, it has gotten better, but it is still a bit institutionalized. I get a little ill each time I see an article in the

local newspaper about a school that it is 96% populated by African Americans named Nathan Bedford Forrest (Civil War Calvary General, Founder of the KKK)

and it is 2011? and no one bothered to change the name of the school. Same with Robert E. Lee High school,

knowing that Jacksonville and Duval county merged governments to only keep the African American community

from dominating the city politically. Finally, this past election they have a black Mayor!...He was the most qualified,

outworked his competition, and the city looked past his race and voted for him....I hope he does a great job! One hell

of a movment in thinking, from a city that had done so much to to keep those results from EVER happening!

Ask the Brits how it got to Clinton.

And why should the names of the schools be changed? Do you think its right to cover up history? You probably want Native American references in team names to be changed too.

I know its hard to think when youre breathing the toxic air blowing up from Elizabeth, but he asked about Clinton popping up in this thread, not some moronic you tube nonsense. It went from Edwynn to Imp to the Brits (in the form of Moondread) chiming in with a total misunderstanding of what impeachment is and who was/wasnt impeached. I "suggested" asking him how Clinton popped up because he is so clueless.

An appropriate response

A sports team named after Native Americans equated to a high school named after the founder of the KKK, not one of your sharper comparisons Will.

A predominately black high school maned after the founder of the KKK is not history that deserves a PUBLIC facillity named after him.
If you want history taught, teach it in the schools not in the name of the school!

No matter where or when, there should be nothing named after Forrest, Lee, Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Beauregard etc. It institutionalizes the fact that a war was fought over slavery and BIGOTRY. You wouldn't send Jewish kids to Hitler High, don't send African American kids to schools named after the founder of the KKK or the leader of the army that defended slavery

! Forrest in particular shouldn't be memorialized, he should have been hanged by his testicals using large hooks in a public square. Makes me wish Grant would have known the fucker was in Fort Donaldson and just eradicated the whole place!

Native Americans might disagree with you.

But of the two parties today....which one is considered more racist????

They both have their fair share. Sad but true. Now if you are asking which side is using it to paint the others as evil, that would be the democrats. If the repubs had run a black man and won, then it would probably be the other way around. But to try and say that everyone on the right is racist and homophobes is just as stupid as trying to claim everyone on the left isn't.

~FR~

The amount of ignorance in this topic is only exceeded by the amount of ignorance my mixed son is shown by those of the White and Black communities. There will always be division in humans, remove one thing that causes a division and someone will point out another. It is one of those rather petty traits that humans have, even when they believe they are on some anti-racism crusade.

I dont know that there has been much ignorance in the thread, except by some who are so quick to condemn based on only one unsupported claim. The rest of your post is dead on, of course. "Others" will always exist, its part of being self-aware. The question is how and whether the "others" are discriminated against, neutral, or there is discrimination in their favor. Eg it would be equally as bad as the claim against the school if, instead, there IS in fact a policy that would have named the other student sole Valedictorian and instead was named co-V or not recognized at all out of political correctness.
