Two points to this rant. Please comment?
This is pretty sad and pathetic.
Summer' Eve has made in my opinion, 3 of the most offensive commercials ever. They are racist, they are insulting of our intelligence, they reduce women to a body part, and they want you to believe that your life will be better if you used overly scented wash on your "Lady Wowza?!?” They seem to have received so much bad publicity that they have been taken off the Summer's Eve YouTube channel as well as their own site. I do not know if they are still playing on TV but if you watch the Steven Colbert link you will be able to view them.
On the Summer's Eve website the talking hand/vagina is only briefly seen.
There is however a talking pussy. Yes a puppet pussy cat. Again offensive.
Where are the feminists and the GYN docs railing at these ads?
Vaginas are self cleaning! I feel these ads are targeted to young women and girls who probably have never been told that by a GYN doc, because they have do not have health insurance so they do not get regular check ups where a doctor would have time to mention this fact.
Opinions please?

I posted this on my own blog and some poor uninformed woman told me that we do need these kind products because… “It is nice to know that your vagina is perfect and not affected by foods, hormones, or anything else. Although self cleaning, the vagina can still be subject to bad odors, discharges, and discomfort. Foods and medicines for example, can impact. I am thankful that there are such products as Summers Eve.”
And surprisingly, no she was not 18… She claims to be 35.
So I am sharing these links. If your vagina smells there is a good chance you have an infection and you need medical attention. Are American women so uninformed that the majority of us do not know this? Soap and lots of water are what doctors reccomend.

Marketing 101, explore. Marketing 101A, insult. They have accomplished both, proven by your post here.

The worst thing that could happen to them is that nobody ever heard of them.

They won.

I agree that the three race-based ones were a little much, but I think Termyn8tor is right, that's the whole point, to get people to talk about it. It seems it worked.

I also agree with Hanners, the vaginal pussy ad was fun.

As far as the product itself, well "feminine hygiene" products have been around for a long time so I'm not sure why you are so upset about it. Besides and it's not like it's the first product marketed to us that we don't really need. Personally I don't use them, but I don't see any issue if somebody does want to.

I dunno, my oven is self-cleaning too, but I still gotta do a little manual wiping every now and then.

As for the commercials, meh.  I wasn't offended.  I've seen much worse, in regards to racial stereotyping and gender bashing.

eehh...they don't bother me. Not sure what the hoopla is about.

I use such products from time to time not because I smell or anything but just because I like that little bit of a fresher, cleaner smell, the same reason I use deoderant and perfume and body spray. I guess we should be outraged about those things as well?

You think those are bad?  Here's a blog (including YouTube link) about the offensively sexist Summer's Eve ad that ran BEFORE HARRY POTTER. Let the WTF ensue: http://coilhouse.net/2011/07/hail-to-the-v-a-vaginal-journey-through-time/

Thank you for trying to market a product to me that I not only don't need but is actually harmful to my body by equating my worth as a woman with the value men place on my vag.  (The ad is also full of epic racism fail.)

This thread kind of reminds me of this:
http://wendi-aarons.blogspot.com/2007/03/as-seen-on-mcsweeneysnet.html
While the above cracked me up, it also wound up being more publicity for a feminine hygiene product, albeit a more useful one.

I love it! 10 points!

I agree with the others so far, no big deal, I didn't find any of them offensive, but they were pretty stereotypical, so maybe if I were black or Latina I might, I don't know. Carleton the cat was funny, and his blog is a riot! So, yeah, I'm all for it. It's vaginal baby.

I didn't find them offensive either, sorry. I use a similar product in the summer, because I do get smelly otherwise, it's really no different than deodorant really. BO is BO no matter where it's origin. I'm sure the OP will dismiss our views because of our age, but I don't use it because I haven't learned how to take care of my puss, I do it because I just don't like being stinky. Armpits, or crotch, I get sweaty and I smell, so why not use a product to help deal with that.

I'm sorry, but I clicked off this thread onto the CM personal side and THIS was the first ad on my page.  Maybe I'm just a total goof, but I found it hilarious - in context...

Well, I'd call it serendipitous, but only because its one of those words you almost never get the chance to use!

Nope, not even close.  I'm not a hard-core feminist.  I don't care about a things that a lot of women find offensive.  The fact that I found this particular ad sexist says a lot.  Even if it were not offensive in its own right, it's still completely inappropriate to show in front of Harry Potter.

FR - I don't like them. I'm not offended by them, but I think they're in poor taste, definitely.

I also don't like a current ad for razors on TV - ones in which a woman walks by and the tree she walks by takes the shape of however she has shaved her pubic hair. Again, not offensive, just....crass.

Don't be offended so easily IMO. I do not find any of the commercials offensive, I see them as a commercial for a product that some people feel they need... or just like using, even if I am not one of them.

I'm with the OP: it's horrible little admen stealing hard-earned money from women by making them feel 'not so fresh' and selling them cheap chemical water that just pushes back in what the body is trying to sweep out. It's another non-problem foisted on women's self-image and wallet.

Where are the 'Winter's Morn' ads against smegma!? Why isn't Madison Avenue getting men to spend big bucks on urethral douches when all they need is a shower?

Here you go, guys: go spend $90 on wrinkly ball cream: herein called 'Taint Miracle' [I suppose 'Teint' is the British spelling ;-)]

A Lancôme print ad featuring Julia Roberts has been banned in Britain after MP Jo Swinson filed a complaint with U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority, calling it “misleading” because “the flawless skin in the image was the result of digital manipulation, not the product.” The ASA upheld Swinson’s complaint, stating the ad was “not representative of the results the products could achieve” because it had been airbrushed. The ad was found to have breached advertising standards codes 3.1 (Misleading advertising) and 3.11 (Exaggeration). Lancôme admitted the image had been altered using “a soft focus and lower resolution,” but stated in their defense that Julia, 43, is famous for her “naturally healthy and glowing skin.” The ASA requested a copy of the original photo in order to compare it to the one in the ad, but they were denied, as Roberts has a clause in her contract that doesn’t allow the release of untouched photos. The ASA ruled: “On the basis of the evidence we had received, we could not conclude that the ad image accurately illustrated what effect the product could achieve, and that the image had not been exaggerated by digital post-production techniques. We therefore concluded the ad was misleading.”
