It`s starts 1st, with an anti-environmental mind-set.
Cons aren`t interested is things that might interrupt commerce/polluters/business and over time have grown to loath anything connected with environmentalism,even remotely.
No one will say out-loud the are FOR polluting,cept Glenn Beck(who claims he burns tires just to piss off tree-huggers)but when it comes to doing anything about it,they ARE FOR polluting.In fact,we`ll get you a tax break to help you pollute.
As the world science community has started coming to the conclusion that we are negatively impacting our environment(our home,really) with our activities,cons have been growing more and more anti-science.
It`s not anti-knowledge or that they know about science.
It`s political.
Science just happens to be on the wrong side of the fence.
Then,cons started trying to discredit science and research in various well funded ways.One, is fake corporate sponsored science, which amazingly and coincidentally, favors said corporate POV.Then cons can say,"hey,we got scientists too so that cancels out your scientific findings,in so many words.
Another effort,a well funded braitbart type campaign to create a narrative that the world science community is perpetrating a fraud about climate change and global warming.
This story or at least the spin is,this guy is another member of the secret cult of liberal tree-huggers.
Any scientist or researcher who was part of Al Gore`s devastatingly affective film is going to be a target of the smear campaign.
Again it`s not scientific reasons for the attacks on science and research.
It`s political.
