Well, good for you, for what it's worth.  The question at hand in my mind is should Glass-Steagall be put back in law.  My answer yes.

Regarding everyone lost on the budget deal (which was the original statement on this thread) my answer was yes.

Instead of being an insufferable fucking dolt, perhaps you should have said that initially.  I think Glass Steagall should be reinstated and that the former president you sound like you would like to dance the fellatio tango with never should have vetoed its repeal and bears responsibility for not doing so.

Instead of being a turdswallow, you shouldn't have come on with a bunch of asswipe about something doing with nothing and professing that the republicans were not the seminal blame for the fiasco.  That was the issue foisting the of a dead deal on Clintons not bothering to veto an un-vetoable bill, and the worldwide bubble being the fault of frank and dodd.  I have said that Glass-Steagall as well as a bunch of other shit needs to be replaced and severe fucking restrictions or the complete dissolution of corporate enabling  laws repeatedly out here.

I agree with not loosing our mind over things Willbeur.  I just want there to be an honest and fact based discussion about those things.  If a company says that they want to completely poison 10 acres (but only 10 acres) of land but it will generate 1000 jobs and put $100M into the economy then I'd likely go for that.  If they said they want to poison an entire states water supply so they can double their profit then I would NOT go for that.  What I typically hear is an argument that sounds like "it's bad for the environment" verses "we will create jobs."  I can't make any opinion at all on that kind of nonsense.  I need to know how bad for the environment and how many jobs and I need the real and honest data for that.  I don't need to hear one news source saying we are all going to die of cancer tomorrow because of Company A and another news source saying that the entire worlds economy is going to fall apart if Company A doesn't get to do whatever it's trying to do.

Man, you can't be that fucking simple. Show me one time where you can exaclty state..."oh I am only going to poison 10 acres and nothing else". Live in realtiy

Um, I think that's my point.  No one is saying exactly anything.  All that is said is "destroy the environment" or "create jobs."  Lighten up,  I fight (as in the real world) for environmental issues all of the time.  I'm a supporter for of people's rights and for this country doing everything possible to aid it's citizens.  I'm not a screaming zealot however.  I try my best to listen to what people are saying and try to understand that everyone doesn't have to be wrong for me to be right.  I'm not even trying to be correct for that matter.  I try to stick to the truth and try to keep an open mind to see a truth I haven't seen yet.

As a side note, I don't have to hate people that make more than me in order to think that people who make less than me might need assistance from time to time.

Technically, genius, people ARE animals.

Its more than "technical", it is a key issue in many social debates. As soon as you allow people to lose sight of the fact that we are just the baddest animals in the food chain it allows all sorts of nonsense to creep in about our "special role" in nature and rationalize all sorts of self proclaimed "responsibilities" that are in fact, just preferences.

And that doesnt mean that we cant look at it the opposite way and understand that 25k in SoCal is under a lot more stress than 250k. In fact once I got my ass off of friends' floors I was sleeping on and then out of the Army my income in todays dollars was probably about $28k in pre-gentrification Hoboken. It was a struggle without a roommate and no car needed. I cant imagine having to live on that in SoCal, where a car is nearly mandatory to get to work.

No, you can't. That isn't a slam, Willbe, it is just a fact. BTW, along with taxes, rent, and utilities, I do have car payments. and insurance payments.

And my comment was meant as a compliment.

The problem is the nation is at that proverbial point of being between a rock and a hard place. Either we control our debt, or it will control us, and we're running out of options. We can't simply keep driving the ceiling up and borrowing more. The negative impact of doing so is about the same as not spending, and therein lies the crux of the problem. Spending drives economies. That's why we had a stimulus. It didn't matter that reams were written by plenty of folks from right to left over why it wouldn't work, and why we'd end up needing another, and another and another. What mattered is that it helped push the economy along in hopes that the jump-start would stave off a steeper drop and level things off long enough for the economy to recover on it's own.

why not just dissolve and disperse all those nice subagency trust funds that the gubafia has squirreled away to the tune of 110 trillion?

I dont recall voting that they could have investment trusts and control the stock market at the same time.

How about that?  110 tril can go a long way to fixing the debt I think
