OP, first...welcome. Second, if you want to make " genuine connections, and to learn about BDSM from more knowledgable members", start attending local munches and connect with your local bdsm community. That's not to suggest you won't meet flakes in RL, but you will be able to have the chance to learn by doing instead of by imagining.

I think the Two major varieties are webcam girls, they're easy, they usually have a website address in their intro, they tend to claim to be the perfect slut, no limits and the pic is always a nubile young women, i.e., "too good to be true".

Now there are some good looking young women claiming to be the perfect slut, who are for real, but quite often they have standards, and mention them - i.e., no one over 40, etc. details like that are usually a good indicator you're looking at a real profile, even if she want's nothing to do with you personally.

The Second type is the scammer, all they want is your money - if you can't figure that out as you go, good luck with that.

The Third category is anybody that doesn't live up to your fantasies immediately, and without reservation, I'll let somebody else do the taxonomy on that demographic.

I don't think the average crack whore would be any more likely to have internet access any more than she would to have a smartphone, you usually find those chicks back around the dumpsters behind Save-On.

I don't give out my number until I really feel like theres a possible connection with someone, and the more they push me to give it out right away, the less likely I will. I just find it rude and pushy, and that's not the type of man I'm interested in.

The one bonus of being on Fet is that site is spectacular for finding events and munch groups.  CM is really lacking in that area.  The "Upcoming Events" forum here isn't utilized nearly as much as it once was.  I think the last event that I actually attended that was advertised there was SELF 2010.  I've done four demos in the last year that I didn't even list on CM, but they were all promoted on Fet.

Going off topic, but since we are on the subject of the pros and cons of Fetlife V.S Collarme.com, Fetlife has significantly better privacy than Collarme.com. The guy who made it knew what he was doing. For example, the way the uploaded photos are handled makes them nearly impossible to copy without the use of PrintScreen. They also cannot be indexed via normal search engine spider bots (both ethical and unethical ones). I spent a good chunk of time trying to exploit his code to download a picture and had no luck. This is why I have my photos displayed on Fetlife but not on Collarme.com.

I'll be honest.  I'm not great with it either.  However, even with My stumbling around, I can manage.  If I were more knowledgeable, I could probably do better.  Still haven't been successful in reducing the eye strain, but that's My own personal problem.

New and old members all have this issue. Here is a few tips from my experience since 2005...


  • ignore any profiles that look like she is a model or Wonder Woman yet she has no text in her profile.
  • ignore any profiles that look like someone writes english as a second language.
  • I have used the video chatroom and even Yahoo's cam messenger once to verify gender and such before meeting, it pays off, try to look around the room behind her and see how she lives if possible.
  • look for locals you can meet cause long distance works poorly in verifying real people behind the profile.
  • No shortcuts, write, talk on the phone and/or cam, meet locally or in a munch.
