it is hard to know. i've been sitting in the car with people who were generally nice, but if a person of (insert ethnic group here) cuts them off in traffic, the sudden tirade seems totally out of character and really surprising, but it's still a part of who they are. then they turn to me, as if they forgot i was there, and say "oh but you're one of the good ones!" and that's usually the last time i talk to them. =p i read an article before where he basically said the same thing; that he was just really busy and wasn't paying any attention to the newsletter. while i can buy that a person can get super busy and let something fall to the wayside, when you have political aspirations, as he did at the time, a document like that is VERY important because it's how people learn about you, how they relate to you, and it's a paper trail that will be with you for the next bajillion years -- not paying attention to that is just seriously irresponsible. so if that IS the true story, then it's still pretty lame. =p i don't think the motivation for bringing it up was to take down Ron Paul, but to illuminate something really odd in his history; he should've expected that, it's part of the political process. (eta: the comments under the video point out that he claims he's hearing those things for the first time, but previously he DID claim responsibility for them because they've been brought up before. he's kind of painting himself into a corner there...)
