My thoughts are with the British tonight.

There's another thread about the riot going on in London and have now spread to Liverpool and Birmingham. That other thread is toxic. I sincerly hope those who want to be toxic will stay there.

This thread has been started for those who want to take a moment to show support.

I do not want to read about who's fault it is or about why it's happening.. That is not the point of this thread.

The reality is that the riots are happening and people are suffering and for your average Brit, this is traumatic.

So my thoughts are with the British tonight.

May all this get resolved fast so that you might start to heal.

Post here if you wish to give your support to the large British member base of this site. If not, well (in best Brit accent) sod off, you wanker! ;-)

What is going on is disturbing,to say the least....and I too hope it all gets resolved quickly with as little disruption and pain as possible.

My sister is scared shitless, her old man has been called in (he is in the met) she has no idea where he is or whats happening, , he was sick about it, hes lost hours and is pissed off as much as anyone else, they are already struggling, they have three kids under ten. Im no fan of cops and Ive seen both sides, but theres so many things going on. Adding fuel to the fire is NOT whats needed.

No offense, the people in London and in the area where the looting is happening are traumatized, there have been smaller outbreaks in other cities, but so far it is not a national crisis on a huge scale and the whole of the UK is burning and everybody is afraid to leave the house.

I don't mean to be unsympathetic with the people who are directly involved, but the thread sounded a bit like there's a revolution going on and the whole country is scared.

A few outbreaks in Bristol, my home town, just reported - but like Lady C says, the country isn't in terror yet. But thanks for the thought, LA.

Gawd, though. Evil events in sober and reasonable Norway, followed by pandemonium in village-cricket-and-pints-in-the-pub England. And on a Sunday, too, gadzooks!

I have a friend from these very boards who no longer posts here.  Things are moving into her area, and she may be cut off shortly if things don't calm down.  I wish her well and want her to be safe as well as everyone else who's affected by this.  To those not affected, I'm happy for you.  To those who are, may you be safe and my hope for an ending to all this ASAP.

Not affected by it (and unlikely to be), though I do frequently work in an area near to one of the problem areas. Been talking about joining the clear up efforts with a friend. If anyone hears of any group or organisation that has this idea..please do post on here.
