We ate while we watched tv. So more nibbling than devouring, but it is possible to not pay as close attention to the food. I can't eat Panda express with out diareah, gas bloating and an overal oh god I feel like crap feeling. Same as I get from Kfc. So i don't eat their either cause the foods the same kind of low quality greasy fare. Neither will be a huge loss not to eat anymore.

Actually, people are far more likely (yes, I believe there have been actual studies on this) to eat more when eating in front of the TV set.  So while it may feel like nibbling, apparently most folks will over-indulge while watching tv as opposed to sitting at the dinner table.  This is a terrible habit of mine as well--I eat in front of the tv, too.

These days I often have to decide if the instant gratification is worth the price I pay later. (that "feel like shit" sensation)  It rarely is worth it.

Yup you can over eat when you're gnoshing and not paying attention. And I totally agree some instant gratification stuffs not worth the kill me now I feel like shit feeling.

Ok I made a mistake It's maalox not mylanta.it's an anti gas and anti acid but it still makes me nasious and gives me more gas.

hausboy -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/12/2011 8:14:39 PM)

Same difference---check the product.  Just like Mylanta (I'm not a pharmacist...I went to the Maalox website to check the active ingredients since I don't use that product), Maalox has different products for different systems, so if you were using one for upset stomach, it would not alleviate your other symptoms.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/13/2011 11:59:07 PM)

Hause it's for gas and bloating from gas pressure, upset tummy and heart burn. Since I had gas and pressure from gas it was the correctthing to treat gas and bloating from gas. It's unfortunate it made the gas worse and made me feel like puking.

Did you know Maalox has propylene glycol? I didn't till reading the lable. I guess it's to make the stuff more palatable?

hausboy -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/14/2011 6:36:33 AM)

chances are the Maalox wasn't the problem.....let's be realistic, TFB.  The garbage masquerading as 'food' is very likely what caused the nausea/gas/pressure....
I am not familiar with propylene glycol so I looked it up.  It is an solvent additive and emulsifier.  Kind of horrifiying what else they use it for.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/14/2011 10:06:43 AM)

Yes, I do believe it was the Maalox cause I was not feeling pukey at the time I took it, and the gas Belching and pain had stopped but heart burn was starting and then felt like puking after I took it. [ut I'm not going to argue about that. quote]ORIGINAL: hausboy

From what I have seen on previous posts you have made your diet seems to be very lacking. Why do you eat so much fast food or processed food. Buy fresh food and cook for yourself. It is cheaper and healthier. By fresh I don't mean adding things like Hamburger Helper, whatever that is.

I wish I could "Like" this post, but I'm just going to quote it because it's worth saying twice.

angelikaJ -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/15/2011 5:20:47 PM)

Tfb,

I think the problem was simply that your tummy was too full.
Maalox and things like it can't fix that.

It takes awhile for the full tummy message to get to your brain which is why they suggest people who are trying to lose weight to eat slowly. Before that message gets there some people sometimes continue to eat to the "too full" stage.
Food that is fatty can sometimes take longer to digest and if your tummy was too full and the food wasn't moving out of it then your tummy may have sent an objection to your brain which registered as nausea.

hausboy -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/15/2011 6:22:12 PM)

I'm gonna agree with angelika on this one.  But, TFB, if you are convinced it was the Maalox, there are lots of other antacids/heartburn/gas meds out there.  If you take other medications, have your pharmacist or physician suggest one that will not interfere with the other drugs you take.

There are also some chronic GI conditions (like reflux) that will not be solved by OTC antacids, so if you are getting heartburn all the time without relief, mention it at your physical.

My Dad drank two swigs of Mylanta every single day of my childhood--it was one his "bedtime" rituals.  Once he lost weight and stopped eating garbage (I found out as a teen, he would trash my Mom's healthy lunch that she packed him, and he'd sneak out to Wendy's every day...) he no longer needed it.  He hasn't has a "hit" of Mylanta in years now.

a small wendy's chili isn't that bad - so long as you don't add cheese. It has protein - and fiber...and is also a fast food.

Chipotle's has a salad - avoid the rice - and go for black beans or the peppers and onions, avoid the dressing and the cheese - but add extra tomato salsa ( trust me you won't miss the dressing) and if you leave off the cheese - you can have guacamole - which while fattening - is the "healthy fat"

I find that the Wendy's chili has too much oil, so it doesn't go over well with me.  (I make my own chili instead)  Wendy's is off my list--won't go there at all.  Same with Burger King, KFC etc.

I am hopelessly addicted to Chipotle, however.  Usually I get the bowl....occasionally the burrito....and I go all the way. (chicken, rice, beans, salsa, cheese and sour cream!)

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/15/2011 8:52:55 PM)

No one brought this up but for those that do not know...if you take to much of an antacid it will have a worse effect on you than had you not taken it at all.

I'm not sure that we got Wendy's in Europe anymore, last time I've seen one was as a child but Burger King and KFC are definitely too fatty for me, even just nibbling a bit, my whole digestion is off for days if not weeks. I'd rather grab a Sushi, tastes better and no cramps and doesn't tend to go straight to the hips.

Well that and KFC is greasy.

I'll have to try some others out. I took tegament, and it did zero for the heart burn but we do have other kinds out there yes. and for a while there when I was 16 I did have to go on prescription stuff cause I was always having heartburn, irregardless to what I did or didn't eat, and somedays I get heart burn and the only thing I've eaten around the time of burn is a bell pepper. Somedays I haven't eaten at all and I have heart burn. I will have to mention it to her, I haven't because usually all they say is loose weight, change your eating habits and elevate the head of your bed, none of which is helpful when you're getting heart burn and you haven't eaten anything.

May I ask why not?

We do not eat at Wendy's there's not one close by and when we are looking to eat out and we're in the area I prefer a sit down that I really like, or other places, but is there something we don't know about them?

Greasy food = fatty food. [:)]

On the days when your stomach is acidic and you haven't eaten, is it possible you may have been drinking something that could aggravate an acid tummy?
Things with caffeine can for example.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Why does mylanta sometimes agrivate indigestion, gas, bloating an cause nasia? (8/16/2011 11:38:20 AM)

No. Cause I usually haven't drank anything either, and I only drink bottled water and then every now and then crystal light at home when I do drink stuff.

Maybe my stomach is unhappy cause it's hungry? Sometimes when I am hungry and haven't eaten at all or much that day, I experience dis comforts, other than the empty stomach growl/ sensation.
