I'll have to try some others out. I took tegament, and it did zero for the heart burn but we do have other kinds out there yes. and for a while there when I was 16 I did have to go on prescription stuff cause I was always having heartburn, irregardless to what I did or didn't eat, and somedays I get heart burn and the only thing I've eaten around the time of burn is a bell pepper. Somedays I haven't eaten at all and I have heart burn. I will have to mention it to her, I haven't because usually all they say is loose weight, change your eating habits and elevate the head of your bed, none of which is helpful when you're getting heart burn and you haven't eaten anything. quote:
ORIGINAL: hausboy I'm gonna agree with angelika on this one. But, TFB, if you are convinced it was the Maalox, there are lots of other antacids/heartburn/gas meds out there. If you take other medications, have your pharmacist or physician suggest one that will not interfere with the other drugs you take. There are also some chronic GI conditions (like reflux) that will not be solved by OTC antacids, so if you are getting heartburn all the time without relief, mention it at your physical. My Dad drank two swigs of Mylanta every single day of my childhood--it was one his "bedtime" rituals. Once he lost weight and stopped eating garbage (I found out as a teen, he would trash my Mom's healthy lunch that she packed him, and he'd sneak out to Wendy's every day...) he no longer needed it. He hasn't has a "hit" of Mylanta in years now.
