I know we would never hire a morbidly obese person as they could not do the jobs we might have available. Really and what jobs do you think overweight people can not do. I hope you need a job one day and are told, no, we do not hire women as the jobs we might have available a woman can not do. I wish you well Listen.........I GET that you are fat and butthurt about the subject matter. You've made it perfectly clear. There are several things that would cause me not to hire a person. The topic of this thread is fat and so I stayed on topic. Having been fat, being aware of the physical limitations of being fat, I cannot imagine being a lot more fat and trying to do the tasks most of our positions require. To ME, it is a self imposed handicap. One that can be removed. I never said it was an easy task but it is not impossible. I know this first hand. If you are fat and if you do not mind being fat, then you accept the limitations of being fat. It is no different than, if you weigh over 200# you will not be allowed to ride one of my horses. Rather like, if a couple weighs over 300# together, I will not put you in the guest bedroom that has a cheap futon for a bed. I only put lightweight people in there. Both to keep the bed from being broken AND to save them the embarrassment of telling me their fat asses broke my bed. As a former fat woman, now just 'built'.....due to lots of gym work and careful diet monitoring...as the mother of a morbidly obese woman..... I get the emotional reaction to the topic. If I had noticed anyone in this thread being cruel, making fun of, or spouting off stupid bullshit just to be hurtful, then I would understand the sensitivity. But aside from the OP, it's been a relatively mild discussion as fat threads go. As for being a woman and the job market. I am a realist. If I was looking for a job, I would make damned sure the job I was applying for I could do. If the job required a great deal of lifting and upper body strength to do physical labour, I would not apply. If I was applying for a job that was traditionally held by a man, I would be prepared to prove my abilities and KNOW for a fact that I could do those tasks on a daily basis without destroying the integrity of the job or jepardizing my health. Now, if we were discussing dangerous hobbies rather than fat...based upon what I know about...ohhhhhh sayyyyyyy, motocross. If I was told initially that the applicant was heavily into motocross competition, they would likely not be considered for employment either. I need employees that will consistently be able to show up and do the work. Not drag their broken beat up bodies in after a few days in the hospital, barely able to get to work unassisted, let alone do the work.
