ah man, chickpeas are marvelous. ^_^
do you eat other beans, barelynangel? the difference in taste isn't major; they just taste a little more interesting. =p if you've eaten other beans, you'd probably like black beans. ^_^
mexican food uses black beans; pinto beans get a lot of use, too.

There is a store near where I live that specializes in these amazing flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars. My favorite is lime infused olive oil mixed with coconut flavored balsamic as a salad dressing. It is absolutely delicious, and unlike the flaored balsaics I ws buying before, it is not all loaded up with sugar or corn syrup. They also carry a cinnamon pear balsamic that I bake apples in.

This place is 2 miles from my house. Cinnamon pear, chocolate, peach, you name it, they have it, and a ton of flavored oils as well, not that cheap stuff either, this is the real deal. Amazing, and makes low calorie foods taste incredible!!

There's a place pretty similar about an hour from where I live they make flavored balsamic vinegars and olive oils.... They give a few suggestions for combinations too. Plus, you can taste test every single one.

Good to know that there a number of those balsamic vinegar stores popping up. I actually pour a T or so in sparkling water and drink it instead of pop. It's really good. All for 10 calories a tablespoon

I love apple cider vinegar. Especially on cucumbers. Something about it just makes my mouth water. I'll put any kind of vinegar on anything I can. Rice wine, balsamic, apple cider..... I really do love balsamic vinegar. Caprese salad is one of my favorite meals. Or bruschetta with a bit of balsamic on it mmmm.. This is making me hungry!

Okay i am just gonna say it!!!!

I cannot make myself try black beans lol Aren't those the beans mexican food uses a lot?

Chickapeas too.   Maybe one day i will have someone blindfold me and have me taste them.

angel

LOL the Mister wouldn't try them, either, but I absolutely love them.  Yes, they're in Mexican food dishes a lot.  But they just have such a hearty, savory flavor to me, they're my favorite bean.

I grew up on chickpeas/garbanzos so they've always been a favorite of mine. I put them in salads.

OK this is making me want to branch out and try different vinegars. I love balsamic, but haven't tried most of the others.

Rice wine is kind of sweet it's great for salad dressings and such. Although you can buy it with oregano or basil mixed in already. The kind with basil and oregano goes great on grilled veggies. Just grill and splash on a bit at the end. I use the rice wine vinegar on brown rice, quinoa, and lentils. My husband loves the rice wine vinegar on brown rice mixed with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and feta cheese and then served cold.

Thanks so much!  I recently bought a bottle to use for a jicama salad recipe I received.  Guess it's time to play with it!

grins Lillybopeep, did i ever tell you how stubborn i am when my mind has decided i don't like something.  I once sat when i was 7 years old for 3 hours straight in front of a 1/2 pbj (with that icky honey pb they used to make) while all my cousins went swimming.  IN the end, the sandwich went to the cat lol.    My mother used to try and make me eat my dinner for breakfast etc when i wouldn't eat dinner as a kid cause i didn't like it -- i once went 2 days without eating lol my mom had to give in.

Sooo the worse that could happen is they find the dark corner of my cabinets lol and never see the light of day.

I have this butterbean and chorizo recipe my husband loves. I'm not too fond of it. Or chorizo and chicken empanadas(I bake them). Or chorizo breakfast burritos, which we have for dinner. I can only handle so much chorizo, but my husband loves it.
