That is right...I am bored at work. I figured hmm how can I entertain myself and posting on the forum came to mind. Maybe someone will make work pass faster and be alot less quiet. Here's hoping...

Why don't you try to come up with ways of occupying your work time with work related tasks considering you're being paid to work and not sit online complaining about how bored you are.

Done a number of inventory checks and cleaned the store up rearranged shelves normally there is customers amongst all that but not today ;( I assure I am not as lazy as the post could lead one too think

If you're bored at work maybe ask your boss if there are other things that need to be done? That's what I always did but then again we weren't allowed to be online at all let alone to play around and definitely not to be on a sex site. I'm always amazed more people don't get fired for this.

I suppose Kaliko. I guess I come from a business atmosphere where cell phones and using cellphones with wi-fi are banned. If you want to use your phone you wait until your lunch break. If someone needs to reach you they call the business line. When you go to work you're being paid to work, not spending time with porn or playing computer games. In any business I've ever worked for it would have gotten you written up at the very least.

Wow, maybe it's because I work and live in Austin, but things aren't near so uptight here. I work for a CEO - I'm his right hand, so to speak (EA). I monitor IT for our company, and share what's going on with my Boss. And we know that we have a number of employees who are on Facebook or other sites during the day. We recognize that it is important for people to get to have "mental breaks." We pay more for the job, than the time. We have several employeees with TVs in their offices - mostly to watch CNBC, but sometimes golf or football. We have a TV in our conference room for the same purpose. I think when you stop seeing employees as people, and start seeing them as numbers filling space and time, they know it and their job satisfaction plummets. We value each and every employee we have. And for the record, our employees work hard - and we're quite successful. I think they work even harder because they know that they're valued as human beings, not just cogs in the machine. My thoughts, and all that. [:)] In the OP's case, sometimes...especially in a retail or other wage-based job...there really isn't anything to do. And often these positions aren't empowered to do much more than the job that they're paid to do. Sure she could be sitting around brainstorming ways to improve her job, or the tasks she's given, but to suggest that there will never be a time when she's run out of options and is bored? That's silly. I will say that when such times come I work on something menial, like cleaning out the supply closet or the refrigerator in the break room. Cleaning passes the time and gives rewarding results...[;)]

No respect, no quarter, no amends and NO REGRETS. Now how far you go depends on job security. If they can walk in there and say "I don't like the looks of that bitch" and you are fired, fukum. Git all you can now. Now if you have some finer points, and these could be skills as well as knowledge about the boss fucking around with his Wife, you decide when to use them. See, like I got so much dirt on my boss it would destroy him, I mean really quixk. But one, he is about to retire and two, it would really kill him, making it impossible for me to get anything. Get it in your head, you work for money, you are there for money. If you find more ways to get money from that place, sorry about their luck. Take it all and never stop. It's strange as fuck, but the compamies really don't mind. In fact it's like they like you more it seems ! Ruthless. And I will trade one hell of a collection to get ONE MOVIE. Ruthless People, with Danny the Daygo and Bette the Middler. And I want it now. You see, except for very certain exceptions, loyalty has no mass. That means that it it goes up, but it does not come down. Enough

I disagree that the time where one is "bored" should be filled in with personal time-wasters like posting on an online message board. A mental break is one thing, but using company time as your own is another.

U have obviously never worked in sales if there are no customers there are no customers you can only reasrsnge displays to make them look the best so many times... If work needed my attention it would get it... It doesn't

What about being on call ? You mean a resident stationary engineer in an apartment building should just sit there and watch the phone ? No TV, internet, nothing ? I say give them what they pay for and not one penny worth more. Now if it's like thitrty bucks an hour, you do your work, sign out or whatever, but if THEY WANT YOU THERE, then they pay. I have been in business a couple of times and I have no problem with that. Just know what you are paying for. T^T

She was paid to be available if needed, so she completed her requirements by dropping everything when she had to. Otherwise, she was at home and lived her life as normal during those on-call hours. I don't consider that to be the same thing as being paid hourly for your work performance. I've been in all kinds of job situations and there is always something more to do. Not to say you shouldn't talk with your coworkers and such (which actually can foster a healthy working environment) but if bored, take some initiative and make yourself useful. I actually think that employers should lighten up about internet use while working. It's the way the world is leaning, and I'm sure in general things will be become less stringent. But accessing a BDSM site during work time is clearly inappropriate. If on call and at home, I would say that's a different situation.
