Good one, semisweet! [:D][:D]

I don't know what you mean by "stance on gays" but he did apparently vote against a constitutional amendment allow gay marriage

Which, of course, isnt necessarily a "stance on gays" at all.

No, you cant even say that. DUCY?

I remember Bill Maher joking that after like the 10th repub/sex/hooker scandal,'the republicans sighed with relief that it was sex with a women'......

You people weren't claiming that Clinton was unfit to govern because he'd got his cock sucked, then?

Yanno, using "you people" in the US is codeword for a type of person.

I was forgetting that. Not inappropriate given the subject of the thread, though.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/15/2011 4:02:41 PM)

Well, at least based on the details so far, the Indiana sex scandal doesn't hold a candle to the gay sex scandal that my representative got himself into.  Take that Hoosiers.  The gay sex scandal here had everything - women's lingerie, rope, a stethoscope, a slightly pudgy gay hooker, and a request to the Spokane police to keep the whole thing quiet.

For your enjoyment, there is the link.
As for why this might not be his stance, Willbeur, the only reason I can think that might be true is if the whole story is a lie or big misunderstanding.

DarkSteven -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/15/2011 4:25:01 PM)

I don't want to rush to judgment, although with written records of his texts and emails, I can't see any innocent explanation.

If this did go down as seems evident, is he liable under any laws against prostitution?

Gee....it seems quite a few GOP supporters where very upset when it was a DEM caught in a scandal, and demanded he resign, but when it is one of their own, they are strangely silent

Well, fuck.

Something happened over the weekend, and all the facts aren't apparent (the majority of the story is from the information gotten from the sister of the young man who placed the ad, went to the hotel, and then chickened out).

We have no clue as to the politics of Hinkle's stance on gays ... but you are jumping out here, wanting us to condemn him ... for what, for shit sakes?

Perhaps the reason that you don't have anyone on the right condemning him, is because we try not to be a raving mob and condemn someone as "guilty" when we don't have the facts, and don't know if he did anything morally or legally wrong.

Perhaps you should consider doing the same thing.

Firm

He isnt denying the emails or the meeting.  Instead he is insisting its a "shakedown".

Another one that should be out... and potentially prosecuted.

MasterSlaveLA -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/15/2011 6:33:57 PM)

Assuming the below is true...

quote:

"Yeah, I don't want to do this," Gibson said he told Hinkle.

He said Hinkle's response was: "You need to do this, because I came and got you, and I'm not taking you back until we do what we need to do."

When Gibson came out, he said Hinkle told him he couldn't leave. Gibson called his sister again. This time, Megan told him to put her on speakerphone.

"I started cussing him," Megan told The Star. She also threatened to call the police and the local media.
"He said, 'I'll give you whatever,'" Megan said.

But when they hung up, Kameryn Gibson said Hinkle grabbed him by the right arm, just below the shoulder. Gibson said it was then that Hinkle grabbed him in the rear, dropped his towel and sat down on the bed -- naked.

Then BOOT his dumb ass!!!

When I recall some of the things said here about Obama, or even just Strauss-Kahn, I can only conclude that this is a weak attempt at self-deprecating humour.

Just how open-minded is the Right? Why does Bachmann's husband offer 'therapy' for gays? What is there to cure if you're open-minded? I'm waiting to hear this fake 'therapy' condemned for the bigotry it is ...... Should we quote Bachmann's mentors on the subject?

The only place that gay rights are opposed is on the Right. And large sections of the Right are rabid about denying gays their rights. So enough of the double-speak thanks.

Just how open-minded is the Right? Is there any need to check out Bachmann, Palin, Perry et al's positions on the rights of sexual minorities? Why does Bachmann's husband offer 'therapy' for gays? What is there to cure if you're open-minded?

First, in the US, we are suppose to have that "innocent until proven guilty" thingee.

Second, no charges have been placed against him.

Third, he has not denied the basic facts, just their interpretation.

Fourth, no one has provided any evidence of Hinkle's own political, personal or moral beliefs about gays, other than a non-linked assertions that he voted against a law to allow "gay marriage".

Fifth, not all of "the Right" believe any such thing as gays "shouldn't have rights", at all,

Sixth, what have the Republican candidates you mentioned above have to do with what CM "rightist" posters believe about gays?  Do you mean to state that "right-ward" CM posters are "anti-gay"?

Seventh, I suspect I can find as many (if not more) "liberal", "Independent" or "non-aligned" posters who complained/bitched/condmned Strauss-Kahn as you can find "right" posters who did.

Eight, it is often the "lefties" who defend the right of accused politicians - if they have the "correct" political beliefs - to remain "innocent" until proven "guilty" ... and sometimes beyond.  But I guess that doesn't apply, if they are an "R" after their name?

Hell, I could keep going on, but that may be enough

I did not defend Weiner.  He was wrong, and I stated so up front.

The same with Hinkle.  Offering money for sex, then offering to pay them 10000 dollars to keep quiet.... yeah... he should go too.

I don't necessarily disagree, tazzy,

But all we have so far is a single story, in which the majority of the information came from one party.

I'm sure the media will give us more details as it becomes available.  Plenty of time to tar and feather him later.

tazzygirl -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/15/2011 9:31:35 PM)

More is coming out, Firm... more has come out.  His own lawyer isnt disputing the emails... and has stated he has no clue what the "shakedown" reference may be.  Sounds like another Weiner attempt to gain time to decide on a course of action.

He is being asked to resign.

As far as charges... no clue what is happening on that front.  No sex occured, though the young man was grabbed.

MasterSlaveLA -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/15/2011 9:39:59 PM)

My guess is... the guy will fry!!!

Hillwilliam -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/15/2011 11:02:01 PM)

I'm guessing the guy will resign as, if the allegations are true, he should.

tazzygirl -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/15/2011 11:05:48 PM)

Im curious as to what he meant by a "shakedown".

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/16/2011 3:44:39 AM)

yes, let's be reasonable and wait for evidence as long as it's a republican. =p when it's not, the mob is out in the street, tuning up their pitchforks and checking the fuel on their torches by dawn.

haha

hilarious. =p and not surprising.
i quite remember the raving hysteria pushed by the right over the whole Clinton thing. and pretty recently with Weiner. i'm not sure when this "level-headed, 'fair and balanced,' innocent-till-proven" thing came into play.

Moonhead -> RE: Oh NOOO!! Another Gay GOP sex scandel brewing (8/16/2011 4:36:18 AM)

It comes into play when a Republican gets caught with his pants down. Obviously.

Well you folks down under may fall into neat little rows, but here in the states we have close minded idiots on both sides of the spectrum. Oh and you might want to look into some of the more liberal churches. You will find that there are a lot of folks on the left who think marriage is one man and one women. They just don't make a lot of noise and snicker alot when shit gets blamed on the right.

Yea, from the sister. Who apparently didn't have a problem with the kid placing the ad in the first place, but now feels the need to come forward because he acted "creepy"  Who did she think was going to answer an ad like that?
