If I do not peek at profiles, I never see certain information not in the written portion of the top viewable page. I look at many profiles which help provide me guidance if I want to do any more than that. Did the profile say anything about BDSM activities or just vanilla activities. Where did they place the activity on the preference scale? What did they say in words that may guide me in deciding if I want to do more than read it?
Random viewings are not always a sign of interest. Some people like to know something about everybody in their area.
I would tell you not to put a lot of stock in the ratio of those who write vs not writing.
