I live in Pittsburgh... the earth moved without benefit of sex.

Literally, the whole apartment building moved... enough to jar doors in their frames.

No shit! lol I was upstairs and had to grab onto the wall to steady myself. 5.8 magnitude, epicenter in Richmond, VA. I'm about 25 miles west of DC. Yikes!!!!

It felt like the washer was spinning unbalanced really hard, building shook for about 30 seconds! My poor dog came upstairs whimpering, looking at me like "what the hell's going on?" lol

hold tight, be safe, hugs

I felt some earth quakes in Cali... small tremors.  Very unsettling to feel one on the east coast.  6 hours away from me.

NuevaVida -> RE: Earthquake near DC (8/23/2011 11:09:27 AM)

I love earthquakes!  Well, the 5-pointers, anyway.

I checked the news, saw a 5.3 hit Colorado today (first one in 40 years?) but it didn't say anything about Pittsburgh or Cleveland.

Just saw Lucylastic's link.  I don't see any magnitude yet....interested to see that.

windchymes -> RE: Earthquake near DC (8/23/2011 11:10:51 AM)

This is the first time I ever experienced one. I didn't know what it was, was afraid my air conditioner blew up or maybe somebody backed a moving truck into the building, and I kept thinking, "do I have clothes in the washer???" lol. I took my dog and went outside to see if any neighbors felt the same thing, and oh yes they did....

NuevaVida -> RE: Earthquake near DC (8/23/2011 11:11:39 AM)

Looks like a 5.9?  Wow!

Scroll up, sweetie, 5.8! :)

Oops, yep, you're right, they just upgraded it.

tazzygirl -> RE: Earthquake near DC (8/23/2011 11:15:43 AM)

5.9.  They upgraded it.  Not that I think a 0.1 would make much of a difference.

NuevaVida -> RE: Earthquake near DC (8/23/2011 11:19:16 AM)

0.1 actually does make a difference!!

tazzygirl -> RE: Earthquake near DC (8/23/2011 11:19:16 AM)

Colorado had one today as well.

Yep, I mentioned CO above, but I read 5.3 on that one, somewhere.  Can't find it now.  3.9 is much mellower!

VirginPotty -> RE: Earthquake near DC (8/23/2011 11:21:14 AM)

Yes! I was sitting in my office when the floor started to vibrate very heavily and after I finished my slutty thought of how good it felt then the whole building began to shake!

**Eta 5.9**
