ORIGINAL: Focus50 Uh-ohhh - so the term "French Canadian" would be a figment of my own imagination? Focus. I do have to interject that Canada does have a large French Canadian presence and from my travels, the bulk can be found in at least half of Ontario, most areas of Quebec and even the Eastern provinces has areas which are predominantly French Canadian. So yes, it is common for travellers to come across a large percentage of the population who are French Canadian or of French Canadian descent. And yes zephyr.....even in the western provinces one will come across communitie sthat have french speaking people! So I understand that if a foreign traveller visited an area with a predominant french speaking population, they would get the impression that Canada is mainly French Canadian..it is an innocent deduction. well, that could also be said for East Indians, Asians, Scientologists, etc.. some areas of Vancouver, BC, you would think you were in Hong Kong or China,.. etc. They vastly out number French Canadians, in BC at least..
