This same debate is happening here in Wisconsin. The wolf population is doing a lot of damage to livestock and the deer population in northern Wisconsin.

Good, the fuckin cheesehead deer are introducing CWD into Minnesota, now.

I hope they wipe them cheesehead deer out. Fuckin mangy shit.

Sanity -> RE: How will the wolf survive? (8/26/2011 7:33:54 AM)

Theyre wiping out the deer and everything else, its a population explosion. They kill for fun, and theyre very efficient killers

Once theyve consumed the existing wildlife their own population will plummet to nearly nothing as well, due to starvation

Yup, them 800 dogs are making the Spartan 300 look like republicans, hah?

How many republicans have they wiped out to date?

No one had thought of using a tazer.    and drugs to make them docile...  sort of how they do to humans.

Quick question, hunky, has that pharmacy near you been able to fill your scrip yet? I know you were saying earlier they couldn't. You've been a tad more erratic than normal.

Psst - hey moron, look at the date on that

Save you alot of reading and its graphical, but the numbers have been updated to date.
or you can read it all for yourself.

page 12, this document. Perhaps tommie, you are mistakenly looking at rabbit numbers instead of wolves in Idaho.
Where are you getting your 'facts' from? gi us a wee cite, cupcake!

NOW, I see why sanity wants the wolf hunt to continue. The majority of livestock losses are sheep. [:D]

This is state sanctioned, not federal, sanity. You can't make this about Obama, except that he did not veto the entire budget bill with this rider. So, I guess if you call that authorizing . . . .

quote:

ORIGINAL: Sanity

But the administration holds the veto pen and the administration controls the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife

Theyre allowing the hunts because there is no other choice

quote:

ORIGINAL: Iamsemisweet

First of all, I grew up in Montana and live in Washington state. I am not thousands of miles away. Second, the so called delisting occurred in a budget rider. If the species has recovered , fine, delist it. But do it under the ESA, using biological data, not political game playing.

Sanity -> RE: How will the wolf survive? (8/26/2011 7:38:37 AM)

It was a federally protected species

I did. It's a management plan thru 2012. Are you gonna start whining about ad homineums again now that you're making them?

Iamsemisweet -> RE: How will the wolf survive? (8/26/2011 7:42:29 AM)

Yes, they will starve when the deer population plummets. That is how it works in nature. Then the numbers will recover.
I have heard that line about them killing for fun from my Wyoming rancher relatives for years. I have not seen anything scientific that say that, and quite honestly, I would never believe a rancher about something like that. But you know what does kill livestock for fun? Packs of dogs. Now that I have seen.

I just got a cmail on the other side wanting to know how you get a 7/8s,use you math, wolf to dog gives you 50% that off spring to wolf75% AND THAT OFF SPRING TO WOLF GIVES YOU THE 7 EIGHTS OR 15.16 STILL SMART AND STILL HAVE  THE SLIGHT WILD STREAK..b

Iamsemisweet -> RE: How will the wolf survive? (8/26/2011 7:44:07 AM)

Yes. Was. Not because the law was followed, but because of some budget rider that is being challenged. There is your reason.

Here, this explains it. Again. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/greenspace/2011/04/wolves-northern-rockies-budget-rider-montana-idaho.html

Hey fuckstick, if you would have read the fucking thing, you would have seen that the study has been going on since 2008 at the behest of the Republican Government of Idaho, since Clem has been wanting to get the Wolf population into Idaho hands and out of the hands of the USFWS and that the fucking thing has been updated with current figures.

You got no figures, and I guess I could make you look more cretinous than you are just like I have on every occasion you run your pathetic shit off as 'fact' when you aint got a goddamn one.

I adopted an older 7/8 wolf several years ago. He was a wonderful guy but I couldn't have him out without a muzzle because of his instinct to protect his alpha.
150# of arthritic grouchiness. I lost him to bone cancer after 2 years (he was about 11 by then) but he had a damn good 2 years. As for 'still smart', he was a LOT smarter than almost any pure domestic I have ever been around. "Wild streak" not so much. Just make sure you realize that every animal will be different even from the same litter.

I'm curious why you would want to back cross her to get 7/16 pups? There isn't so much of a market for them as there used to be thank goodness. Otherwise they could become the next 'bad ass dog' for gangsta punks.

Dogs and wolves are virtually the same species

Even a child is taught that a wolf will huff and puff and blow the house down.

So why would you celebrate that?

Similar species with totally different behavior patterns.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: How will the wolf survive? (8/26/2011 7:58:43 AM)

And not all dogs kill livestock for sport. Never said they did. Border collies and Australian shepherds, the ranch dogs of choice, are really good at it though. A lot of what ranchers claim isnwolf and coyote predation is more likely dogs packing up. You did know that ranchers are compensated for livestock kills purported to be by wolves, right?

mnottertail -> RE: How will the wolf survive? (8/26/2011 7:58:47 AM)

caught up on your reading yet?

I await your apology, AGAIN.

all very true!
back home we had a really bad problem with domestic farm dogs packing up and killing livestock on other farms.
