One in four Democrats wants to dump Obama

A new poll by CNN and ORC International finds that 27 percent of Democrats would like to see their party nominate a candidate other than Barack Obama for president in 2012.

In response to the question, "Do you think the Democratic party should renominate Barack Obama as the party's candidate for president in 2012, or do you think the Democratic party should nominate a different candidate for president in 2012?" -- 72 percent said they wanted to see Obama renominated.  But 27 percent, slightly more than one in every four, said they wanted to see Democrats nominate a different candidate.  One percent had no opinion.

The poll was taken August 24-25.  In a survey taken in early August, 28 percent of Democrats said they wanted a different candidate.  Polls taken in July and before showed Obama in a stronger position, with no more than 22 percent saying they preferred a different candidate.  The current poll is based on interviews with 463 Democrats and has a margin of error of 4.5 percent.

Carney Grilled Over Potential Hillary Primary Challenge: "You'll Have To Ask Her"

[image]http://images.rcp.realclearpolitics.com/100305_5_.jpg[/image]

At today's White House press briefing WorldNetDaily White House correspondent Lester Kinsolving asked Jay Carney if President Obama is "certain" that Hillary Clinton won't primary him. This comes after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Obama has moved to the right because he has no primary opponent.

Carney said the White House is pretty certain Clinton won't challenge Obama, however he tells Kinsolving "you'll have to ask her."

this is what I'm afraid of, Hillery taking a stab at it. If she gets the nomination she'll be difficult to beat.

The stock market isnt the economy, and yes, it is much worse now.

What an amazing crock of shit!!!!!

Back when the markets were tanking both you and Sanity used it to put the blame on Obama rather than Bush's legacy.

Now that the Dow has doubled you claim that it provides no evidence of an economic recovery.

It would mix things up, but she isnt very well liked generally.

Or is she?

lovmuffin -> RE: Obama's Legacy: (8/30/2011 2:49:18 PM)

I'm certainly not a Hillery groupie.  I know quite a few women who would vote for her even though they would normally vote for the republican. Though I haven't taken any polls yet.

There is no chance any Dem will challenge Obama unless he is polling in the low 30s or less. If the economy is so bad he is polling there, she doesnt have enough credibility on the economy to win the general on her own, so she better find a VP who does.

Oh good, glad to read that.......I feel so much better now  [sm=Groaner.gif]

She has credibility in the foreign relations department. Well........sort of but not with me.

philosophy -> RE: Obama's Legacy: (8/30/2011 4:10:21 PM)

I doubt Obama will leave what you might call a statesman like legacy.

Despite the rhetoric, he's not the worst president the USa have ever had, but he's not the best.

Too wishy-washy in my opinion.

However, thats pretty short term stuff. Long term it wont be him per se, that'll be seen as important, as much as his election.

The US has had its dark days in the shadow of the race issue. Obama's election is a big sign that the US is growing up in this regard.

That's not to say that Obama's election didn't also bring some nasty back handed racism out to play, but history will see it as a big step forward nevertheless.

As a president though, he's average. No more, no less.

Worst POTUS wrt to economics since Carter and maybe since the Great Depression. Foreign policy he's average.

Arpig -> RE: Obama's Legacy: (8/30/2011 4:20:46 PM)

I honestly think he should be a one term President, but since the odds of a serious challenge from the Dem side are pretty much nil, and the field of Rep candidates are pretty much unelectable, I foresee a 2nd term.
As to what his legacy will be...well barring  a major change in his next term I would say it will be this:

Lost opportunity and fumbled chances.

Sanity -> RE: Obama's Legacy: (8/30/2011 4:23:47 PM)

Youre being kind of harsh - I am sure that Obama will unveil his jobs plan any day now.

Any day now....

...not sure he's as bad as that in economic terms, but he's certainly no super hero in that regard.

Foreign policy, again uninspired.....but at least done with some degree of intelligence. From a furriners pov, he is so much better than Bush the US will get some positive bounce back from that.

social policy? a two steps forward, one and a half steps back sort of guy, I reckon.

Which only really leaves tone......which is less an absolute value than a relative one. What i am seeing is that the right seem unwillig to engage with Obama, electorally speaking, except through the mouth of someone leaning hard on the old church/state divide. It's that last area, if any, which would give Obama a second term.

Banging the bible, ala Bachmann and Perry, wont give them enough of the middle to win against Obama.

Right now any of them would beat Obama, ainec. A year from now you may be right, depending on how successful the super Congress is in negotiating toward a balanced budget and restoring business' confidence in DC. It will be a hard sell to not give too much credit to the coach on the sidelines. Then it will be a fight where a Bible thumper could swing it back to Obama. It wont be Bachmann, it could be Perry, but my money is still on Romney, and I can't see things improving fast enough for him to lose.

The recent polling in Ohio, Florida and Virginia are dismal for Obama and of the 3 I can only see Virginia improving for him in the next year.

Fellow -> RE: Obama's Legacy: (8/30/2011 4:49:56 PM)

It is too early to tell what the legacy will be. He will be blamed for a lot. It may be, this was the plan when he was installed. He is in reality in charge of practically nothing. I guess, the biggest failure would be Obama's inability and lack of maturity to take charge when it was possible.

Well, his healthcare program keeps getting lower and lower in the polls.
Seems everything Oblunder touches turns to plankton.
