mistoferin,

You are a beautiful redhead... I have wanted to venture into becoming a rehead for about 10 years, but I was told by several colorist that blonde hair is too unpredictable to dye red... it does not evenly absorb the dye and it also can turn Ronald McDonald red very easily...and Celeste is right, your realpic is every it as cute as your avatar, actually cuter because it is really you!...smiles

I'm always hyper aware of how people's perceptions can be affected by online cues- font type, size, color, typing style, pictures and more.  I know that I can change how people will react based on my picture and use it to my advantage.

Which was quite fun changing my avatar to the purple Peep bunny recently.

No, it only LOOKS like a purple Peep bunny.  It's actually an alien life form using the cover of a purple Peep bunny while it scouts out ways to enslave us and transport our landfill back to their homeland.  (Earthling landfill is highly valued for fuel on Alpha Centauri.)

LA...your old avatar of the pic of you lying down always made me feel like I was spinning, but I have to tell you....that purple peep bunny just screws my head all up....lol.

Gradually darken until you're a light brunette and then go red.

Mine reminded me of of Da Vincis sketch, Study of the Hands. It's not very similar, but it was the inspiration for me when I chose it.

*grins*  The zoo is fun.  The first date I ever went on with my hubby was to the zoo.  We saw the lions humping.  ;)

I have a pic in my profile, but I think it was too large to use as an avatar.  I'm a cat lover, I can be complex, and I still climb trees.  So I guess my lil kitty is close enough.

My avatar is a pic of me that was altered in PhotoShop with a coloured pencil filter. Dunno what kind of impression it gives, but it's definitely me.

It gives an excellent impression of you - Even through the coloured pencil filter, your beautiful face shines right through. Up until now.... I had originally thought it to be a random sketch / picture.  ; }

I get far too worried about avatars and what impression i'm making with them, it takes me forever to select one, and i 'd rather have my own pic up than the ones supplied.  sdue to al that - i've ended up just sticking with my profile pic - seems easier than all the silly worry i would cause myself from such a tiny picture!

I picked mine fairly randomly. I just liked the imagery for the most part.

I adore faeries... And the image of a male faerie kneeling before a female faerie just looked rather cute to me.

I was just reading a post by Juliaoceania and I realized that every time I read one of her posts I kind of "hear" her words in that soft voice of the fairy character from the Lord of the Rings movie that she has for her avatar(or at least that is who it looks like). There are many on here that I never really look at the name...their avatar has become who they are to me.

Many times I have gone to look at a profile of someone and I'm really surprised by how different their picture looks in comparison to the one I had of them in my mind's eye. You know, it's kind of like when you hear someone on the phone and draw a mental picture of them being a short brunette and then one day meeting them and realizing they are a tall redhead.

Do others do this? Imagine a voice or personality or a look based upon a person's writing style and their avatars. If so...how do you imagine some of the others on here to be.

Wonder if people have a hard time imaging the "real" me based on my avatar or if they "hear" me in a little fairy voice or have a picture of me in their head that is so far off the reality...lol.

i prefer to have my profile picture on there, and prefer others with their profile pictures. i like to put a face with a topic.
