I don't even notice the avatars anymore , or the # of posts part either. I just look to the right, if something in a post really strikes me I sometimes look left just to see if someone is still vanilla.

I think nickname choice is a very big influence on how I veiw someone.

Thanks for the advice, I have found a couple of grays lately, perhaps it is time for some adventure in hair color...smiles

I've had every color you can imagine ... Blonde hair does have interesting reactions red hair color ... I personally really liked the way it looked but it washed out too quickly because the blonde just didn't absorb the red. I discovered that by going to a light brunette before going red it took it more evenly and I still had nice highlights. Now, if you really want to go wild ... Get N`Rage in Hot Pink. Fun fun fun ... :)

I chose my avitar because my real picture disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it back on now?
However, It was recently pointed out to me that the Avitar I selected, thinking it was a male knight, is a female in a cartoon, which was a shock to me.....I'm such a Girly Man....Laughs, kevin

For educational/family reasons, it would not be appropriate to post a photo on the site, so I just have e-mailed when appropriate.  I selected the avatar, and despite its 'creepiness', I think it captures the dark side of my personality which only those who get to know me well even know I have.  I wanted to find one with blonde hair (like me) and there weren't many to choose from... but this one has grown on me... I think I will keep it.

But, I guess I am a hypocrite as I prefer the avatars with a photo of the person (especially photos with an artistic quality).  I like to get a visual of who is saying what.

I look at profiles infrequently.

I was surprised the other day to read in a post that someone that I assumed to be female - based on the nick, as there was no avatar - actually was male.

Great topic!  It's funny but I do look at someone's avatar and try to imagine what they are like based on their selection.  I love looking at the avatars here on the threads!  I quoted Rule here because that happens to me a lot...I guess my nick is feminine or something (???).  I'm not comfy putting up a face pic so I thought choosing the "Family Guy" dog (one of my favoirte characters on a very funny show)  might help that situation a little.  I guess time will tell.  I also want to show that I have a sense of humor and love to laugh!  Besides, he's awesome!!

Oh, and check out that collar!!  (bastard)

And once or twice I've had to be revived with oxygen because of shock.  You see a young looking innocent litte fairy then find out the person is 200 years old.  Don't mean to offend, but yes it really does sometimes throw me for a loop for a minute.  PS, at least my Avi is somewhat close to reality.  LOL its black and kind of stocky.

Many times I have gone to look at a profile of someone and I'm really surprised by how different their picture looks in comparison to the one I had of them in my mind's eye. You know, it's kind of like when you hear someone on the phone and draw a mental picture of them being a short brunette and then one day meeting them and realizing they are a tall redhead.

Do others do this? Imagine a voice or personality or a look based upon a person's writing style and their avatars. If so...how do you imagine some of the others on here to be.

I put up the pic that most people(freinds) voted was most devious looking.
That way when you read the profile there is no shock...not that My profile is all that shocking to begin with.

I like looking at the different avatars that people have chosen. I also like seeing the real face as well. Generally if someone's postings strike me I will visit their profile anyway :)

As for me I don't post a real pic for one reason, I am not "out" with my close friends/family. I will happily send a pic when requested. I chose the black/white kitty for two reasons. One it reminds me of my cat, Figaro, and two I adore animals.

*Oh by the way, siouxie, your pic doesn't scare me away. You have beautiful eyes girl

I do put a voice with the avatars and pics, and slowly build up mental images of how each person "is" in real life. I just know not too put too much stock in that.

I chose mine because I was drunk and capricious, not an unusual situation.
