I don't think knife and dish throwing is the only definition of bat shit crazy. What about folks who use the "I want to self harm" ploy as or other types of emotional blackmail attempts at manipulation? There's a big long thread in another section right now that touches on these subjects and why the person who got away from a someone using those tactics felt that it was abusive and unhealthy. Surely that's as crazy as dish throwing.

People who want to self harm need to be seen by a psychiatrist or taken to a psychiatrist, otherwise i dont think there is any other classification of unstable or bat shit crazy kevin

How do you define bat shit crazy? To me it is defined as a person or person who represents a threat to themselves and others, throwing dishes is an act of physical violence, much more so throwing knives , at the knife throwing stages, such persons definitely need to be committed for their own and others safety kevin

It's My understanding that a number of mentally ill people can fool their psychiatrist for years. Unless a person is willing to admit wanting to harm themselves during an intake evaluation, the professional isn't going to uncover it Even folks that are imbalanced know enough that if they admit to something like wanting to commit suicide during an office visit, chances are they are going to be changed to inpatient status for their own safety. Of course, someone needing the professional level of a psychiatrist (rather than someone such as a therapist with lower qualifications) might just be a fair warning of the bat shit crazy category.

LP Actually, a good shrink should spot suicidal tendencies pretty quick. Doesn't mean that you can do anything about it though, because in some cases, if you hospitalize the person, when they get out, they'll do themselves in. My definition of crazy- not having a good grasp of reality. There's a world of difference between childish behavior such as throwing dishes and crazy. To the OP- What I've noticed about myself is that I will pursue the hotties more, but once in a relationship....I tend to take the long view. If what they're doing is tough to handle, then odds are you'll be miserable sooner or later, and likely sooner. Doesn't matter hot beautiful, hot, or wanton in bed they are.... Also- I'm not sure there's much of a correlation between hottie and great in bed. Attractive women get enough practice if desired, being model beautiful doesn't really get you many more opportunities. And like Tom Selleck (might have been Kevin Kline) in the movie In and Out said about Shalom Harlow....Skinny people are SOOOOO ANNOYING..... Sam

I dated a guy who was manic depressive or bi polar, or whatever they are calling it these days, right when I was graduating from college. I was too naive to realize what was going on, he wasn't honest about it, and it was an all around horrible experience that did us both more harm than good. I was not prepared to deal with these issues when I was young, and I am not inclined to deal with them now. No crazy people. And throwing stuff and attempting to physically harm me would be classified as crazy, no matter how good the make up sex was.

That's is probably true, that it may not be certifiably "crazy", although it is certainly crazy behavior. In any event, no way. I actually do feel some guilt over my college BF, even after all these years. He moved with me, and therefore left an outpatient treatment program that he really, really needed. That is what happens when people are young and naive. Sam I definitely agree with your second paragraph. Mentally ill doesn't necessarily mean prone to outbursts related to others or even inanimate objects. On the first, I can't say that I do agree. Most folks can fool even a trained professional over the course of an hour or two. There isn't always that look deeper option because there are generally a dozen other patients waiting. With the mental health care crisis the way it is in this country, the term imminent danger is being thrown around more and more. It has a lot to do with not enough beds in facilities and not enough funding. This is probably more than the OP intended though. I think she was going for the "wild woman in bed" angle more than actual mental instability.
