Wow, I must say i'm surprised. Usually at least 3 "Conservatives" will try to defend the conservative position on anything, no matter how ridiculous it is to do so. All we've gotten so far is Sanity's response, and I'm sure even HE knows how weak that was.

I'm shocked by their silence.

Edited to respond to thishereboi's selective memory:

Those protestors are not the same thing as the democratic party. And at least their problem with the war was an ideological one.

Oh bull shit. When are you going to quit with the double standards.

Excuse me, but spitting on soldiers returning home from Viet Nam does not reflect an "ideological problem" with the war.

It reflects something entirely fucking else.

So you are suggesting those were all republicans who were spitting on the boys who came home from Viet Nam? Odd, I don't remember it that way.

The fact that some Dems may have done so, doesn't mean it was a policy of the party.  The Republican party advocates hatred of one group or another at virtually every turn.

Exactly, the republicans were only ignoring a couple of trolls during this debate. Its not like they were actually speaking to their base.

That's right and the fact that some repubs do things doesn't mean it is the policy of that party either. That was the point I was trying to make. Some people will never admit that though.
The Republican party advocates hatred of one group or another at virtually every turn.
Some members do and some members of the democratic party do too. The op is a fine example of doing that.

Why weren't those interrupting the debate with their outbursts arrested, like the UC Irvine kids found Guilty of interrupting the Israeli ambassador?

Why didn't anyone on stage stand up and defend the honor of the US Troops?

Because to them, gay-bashing US Soldiers is A-OK. I mean. Who WOULDN'T stand up and denounce that shit unless they agreed?

It's not that "Some people did some things" it's that at a very high profile, bigots gay-bashed US Troops and NO-ONE on stage or in the audience denounced them.

If you do not object, you have consented.

And give them the media attention that they want. Nah its better that we just let them boo and ignore it so that liberals can make such a big deal out of it. Its like liberals complaining about republicans getting angry over Obama putting his feet on the desk in the White House.

Exactly, there are leftist that hate gays just as much as the military. So just because some Republican Supports booed at the debate doesnt mean anything since some democrats would have done same. Just like how some republicans presidents havent carried their own umbrella a few times.

Oh, but the Republican Party as whole tends to advocate hate.  It is a part of their platform.  Hate Muslims.  Hate gays.  Hate public schools.  Hate nurses, fire fighters, police officers.  Hate children, the elderly and the poor.  Hate the government.  Hate anybody who isn't "just like" them.

TreasureKY -> RE: GAY SOLDIERS: Fighting for the right of Republicans to boo them for 236 years! (9/24/2011 7:38:48 PM)

Oh, for Pete's sake... there's two, maybe three people "booing".  [8|]

Booing at the Republican Debate

To be honest, I didn't like the booing.  Any of the booing.  I think it is immature.

I will say that I got the impression that the "boos" were for the question itself and not for the soldier.  If you'll note, the "boos" came after he asked his question... not when he announced that he was gay.

Put your big girl panties on and accept that some people don't like the idea of homosexuality, and some don't like the idea of openly homosexual soldiers.

You may not agree with those "booing"... I may not agree with them... and the majority of the entire population may not agree with them.  Nonetheless, they do have the right to their own opinion and the right to express it... however distasteful we find it.

You can hold your breath until you're blue in the face, but the Republican leadership isn't going to trample on anyone's right to express their opinion... so long as they are doing so within the boundaries of the law.

As far as I'm aware, "booing" is still legal.

Get over it.

Promoting? You're sure that's what you meant?

Well ... I'm gonna take a wild stab and say NOT REPUBLICANS. That's almost for sure.
