Yes, I'd be interested in reading both that and the virgin birth stuff.
Virgin births are so common in mythology they may as well be a dime a dozen. All of the following Gods, heros, and historical figures have at one time or another been claimed as "born of a virgin": Adonis, Alexander the Great, Antiope, Apis, Attis, Auge, Augustus, Buddha, Codom, Danae, Dionysys, Fohi, Grendel, Hephaestus, Hertha had a son while a virgin, Horus, Demeter, Indra, Jason, Kabit (a famous poet), Karna & the 5 Pandavas, Krishna, Majatta, Mars, Melanippe, Mithras, Osiris, Persephone, Perseus, Plato, Pythagoras, Quetzalcoatl, Quirrnus, Ra, Rhea, Tammuz, Xolotl, Zeus, & Zoroaster

And Pharoah Amenophis III who’s virgin birth was recorded something like 1800 years before Jesus; his birth myth is like that of Jesus as told in Luke almost exactly. It's an exact copy in every major event.

LP - great thread; I enjoyed it very much.

Kali, and anyone else that wanted to know, sorry this took so long but here goes.....

http://www.royal.gov.uk/, which is the offical website of the UK monarchy. Any history or encyclopedia will confirm the reign of James I of England (James VI of Scotland) He's the reason they are now know as the UNITED Kingdom. From 1603-1625, Gunpowder plot 1605, yes he was married but openly lived in the Royal residence with a man named Robert Carr from 1607 to about 1615 (lovers spat and Robert walked out on him, must have had some serious balls). Yes he was married and had six kids (wife was Queen Anne of famous furniture design as you know) but that meant nothing. Had huge tolerance for other religions until Catholics tried to blow him up in 1605 and it was his Bishops who rewrote the sections on homosexuality to stress their displeasure at living with Robert. The first King James Version of Bible published in 1611. Here is a great link about the number and various languages for translations of Bible: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080118054949AA0DLN1.

*note please that you acutally have to do a little looking on the link to find the exact info*

As to the virgin birth....that is not part of lps topic and I can share the information I have on that BUT it is not based in the christian faith. I mean no offence here but there are older faiths and many bible storys are based on storys from those older faiths. Kali I would like to tell you the story I know about a "virgin" birth but I'm not sure everyone would be happy to hear it(it has to do with a rather touchy subject) But than for all I know you have already heard the story...it has to do with Horus if that is any help. If it isn't any help than send me a msg on the other side and I will tell you what I know.

ETA- Heather said his name *high fives* but there is a reason that Horus really actually might have been born of a virgin...his dad was dead when he was made. Icky icky icky thought but having never had sex with a living human male his mother would have still been considered a virgin.

Or write and ask Aneka <Anenoz>, her Goddess is Isis, the virgin in question.

Now off to read MIP's link.

Well we looked and there is no mention of Robert Carr, Leviticus, or homosexuality on that site. Any suggestion as to where or how to find it?

And this site: http://www.hebrewoldtestament.com/B03C018.htm
Gives the Hebrew text of Lev 18:22 as

quote:

 ואת־זכר לא תשכב
משכבי אשה תועבה
הוא׃

Which Google translates as
quote:

And - not lie
A woman bed dirty
He:

And for Lev 20:13 it has
quote:

ואיש אשר ישכב
את־זכר משכבי אשה
תועבה עשו שניהם
מות יומתו דמיהם
בם׃
Which googles to:
quote:

And if a man lie
The - sign of bed woman
Abomination both
Be put to death their blood
Bam:

Which seems to confirm things, though the "Bam" sort of surprises me.

The nice thing about you finding those is that none of them say a man with a man. They only speak of a man with a woman...again...There are 362 admonishments to heterosexual sex in the bible and only six...well I'm sure you know the rest.
