Actually the "iceburg" was the Frank / Dodd / Johnson housing bubble, and the last time I checked they were all Democrats

And the Republicans arent running around screaming, thats all in your head. Leftists are getting panicky, not because theyre all that worried about the economy since they think they can just raise taxes and print money and everything will be okay, but because its becoming obvious that they will be held to account for their handling of the economy and for the state of the nation, as they well should.

The Republicans are the grownups in the room, lecturing the frat boy Dems that there are limits to the credit cards and that these outrageous bills will one day come due. That we cant keep adding to the debt that future generations will have to repay forever, and that one day all these chickens are going to come home to roost.

Time to man up in other words, and time to quit this bullshit game of kicking the can further down the road.

And like Europe said to our president recently; we would say to these 'conservatives' these people who robbed our treasury and spilled our blood for imperialism in Iraq are lecturing us on fiscal responsibility? They need to go suck a wad of cowpiss.

That's true enough, because the Republicans have closed their eyes, covered their ears and are chanting la, la, la, la, whenever somebody mentions the recession of 2008 and the policies that got us there. And yeah, the lefties are panicked because the Republicans have shown no sign of learning from their mistakes, and look to be hell bent on doing the same thing once they get in power again. Even Chris Christie has pointed out that what the Republicans are doing is no way to govern. It's all common sense, but that seems to be sorely lacking in gov't these days. Unfortunately, the Democrats haven't taken the bull by the horns and have tried to work with the Republicans- with disastrous results.

No, again - we are reminding you that the "iceburg" as you put it was the Frank / Dodd / Johnson housing bubble.

I will agree to one thing however, it is true that we havent had a real fiscal conservative in the White House for quite a while

I guess you missed the point so I'll spell it out.  You have heard the term RINO I'm sure.  Too many republicans saying conservative things to get elected but not living up to those expectations.

Milton Friedman would be a "real conservative".

As for the current crop of republican presidential candidates Newt Gingrich might, minus that squishy commercial he did with Pelosi, the conferences with Hillary on health care and giving lip service to global warming, in other words sucking up to liberals, he could turn out to be and certainly once was or seemed to be a "real conservative".  Ron Paul and Herman Cain would fit the mold.

As one poster said, Sanity I think, we can't keep printing money and throwing it at the economy and then hoping that will fix it.

Adding also that I just noticed a story as I finish this post that the Gingrich "New Contract With America" is out. I'm sure it will make a good thread.

And edited to add Santorum and Bauchman fit the mold.
