I think it more reflects my own personal standards rather than the majority. Which is very likely a part of why I have no interest in attending clubs and so forth.

It's typical in mine, too, Roch. Privacy verges on paranoia for some, where they won't even tell you what they do for a living.

I've done an awful lot of anonymous play in my day...I guess it doesn't matter to me, since I am not fucking my playmates, just giving them lots of exciting sensations. (and yeah THEY get to have orgasms, they just dont touch ME).

I do use my first name everywhere, always have, to the point where folks are startled that I am ladyhibiscus!

For the local groups here, we do go by either our first names or screen names, however when attending a play party we are required to show Id and sign that we have read the rules and will abide by them. There are also rules that are specific just for one group so they are the one's who have you sign each time, they also don't require a meet or anything prior to attending. The group I'm active with does require a meet and you sign a waiver once a year. I don't have a problem in doing so. Most of the members there I count as friends and we know each others names, there are some who I wouldn't want knowing my last name.
