I hope that was helpful.

The only time I ever had a true "morality clause" in a contract is when I was a teacher and coach for a Catholic school.

I have, though, worked for companies where there was something in the handbook that said that "In words or actions bring discredit upon .................................. blah blah blah". Sometimes our major clients would have similar wording in the employment contract for the company as well.

Oh, he'll take off his hat and show the scars and take the rug off Marv Albert and show the scars on HIS back and..........

LOL.

I rode a small plane with the guy into my hometown, where he was going to see a heavyduty gun dealer about some very collectible gun (mighta been one of john waynes or something, don't remember anymore):

here: http://www.leroymerz.com/index.php

and he seemed a very personable and decent sort of chap, although I must confess that the name of Bennie Netanyahu did not come up in our conversation.

I think the 'payfor' persona got the best of him, he went over the top and now has to suck a little hind tit for awhile...........

The fickle fuckin' public and all.........

An illegal immigrant, a Nazi, a mooslim terrorist* and a marxist walk into a bar.
The barman says: "What'll it be, Mister president?"

*(Limey for "terrist" or "tourist" or however the fuck you fail to enunciate it in a fake Texas accent)

No, dead weight, a neocon, a teabagger..... Tare.

That perfectly pukkah chap could have been a stuntman for old Basil Fawlty had he played his cards right in the day.

Gee, the cons didnt raise a fuss about the Dixie Chicks being criticized for their comments about Bush.  I wonder why they are making a fuss now?

All of our local good 'ol boy patriotic country radio stations stopped playing any Dixie Chicks music as soon as Natalie Maines made her comment about being embarrassed that GWB was from her home state of Texas, and they still don't play their music almost 10 years later.  But there hasn't been so much as a murmur from them about what Hank Jr. had to say even though (at least in my mind) it was considerably more derogatory.

mnottertail -> RE: Con gets booted for Obama/nazi comment.... (10/6/2011 12:59:09 PM)

Well, lets hold on here, one was about a guy who invaded poland under false pretenses and the other one was about a guy who invaded iraq under false pretenses.

Two totally different things.

Maybe the country stations stopped playing the records because they didn't like the suggestion that the chimp and his fake accent were from Texas, rather than the east coast?

Dumb move by ESPN. Now they have to find another song for Monday Night Football. Hank Jr. wrote that one and owns the rights.

Dumb move by ESPN's owner ABC and ABC's owner Disney.

As O59 has pointed out ... people are free to say as they wish, and companies are free to decide whether or not they wish to be associated with people who make certain comments.

Most contracts have a morality clause.

True. But you can't desparage the morality of someone who has no morals.

Fightdirecto -> RE: Con gets booted for Obama/nazi comment.... (10/6/2011 1:31:45 PM)

Kind of like the Dixie Chicks situation during the Bush Administration, but in reverse.

If you remember, one of them said to a concert audience, "We don't want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States [referring to George W. Bush] is from Texas".

They didn't compare then President Bush to the infamous Nazi dictator or call him "the enemy", but it was enough for them to be boycotted by record companies, radio stations and appearence venues.

It's definitely not unreasonable to treat Hank Williams Jr. in a similar manner to the way the Dixie Chicks were treated.

Besides, he can always get booked to perform at Tea Party rallies and KKK rallies on a double bill with Ted Nugent.

Lawyer smoiyer...

Since when does a guy have the right to say whatever he wants on someone else`s station?

That's it in a nutshell.

I wonder what an archive search would show about your views on the Dixie Chicks controversy

Go do an archive search and tell us.
Don't feel you have to hurry back, though: take your time.

Owner59 -> RE: Con gets booted for Obama/nazi comment.... (10/6/2011 2:00:03 PM)

Only someone with no life would do one.

I dont recall the Chicks playing the victim.

They moved on to much to bigger success and to Grammy Awards.

It`s the douche-bag`s loss,tho.They make wonderful music.

Junior will claim victimhood(already has)and play for sympathy amongst those that share his view.

But as I said, unsophisticated, knuckle dragging mouth-breathers with no class, don`t count.

~ FR ~

ESPN releases statement responding to outrage over Hank Williams Jr.'s controversial comments on "Fox and friends":
Mr. Williams was speaking as a private inidividual, not as a representative of ESPN. ESPN does not endorse Mr. Williams' views, but neither does it plan to take any action against him for expressing them. Businesses that impose sanctions on people who dare to exercise their First Amendment rights outside the business relationship create a chilling effect on free speech in this great country. ESPN supports Mr. Williams' First Amendment right to freely express his opinions in his capacity as a private citizen.
Oh, no, wait, sorry... that's a different America.

Nevermind.

I agree completely.  But it does show just how hypocritical they are.
