Gee, the cons didnt raise a fuss about the Dixie Chicks being criticized for their comments about Bush.  I wonder why they are making a fuss now?

It was the fans that abandoned them, not an employer/contractual partner.

Exactly thats why their 2006 album went double platinum and took 3 number one spots in the Billboard magazine. It also reached the top 10 position in Europe. #1 Sweden, #5 Germany, #7 Austria, #6 Switzerland, #7 Ireland, #6 Norway and #7 in UK. But we all know country music is an easy sale in Europe.

But then their 2002 album reached 6 time platinum in the US and triple platinum in Australia. It also when #1 on the Billboard top 200 albums chart. Also considered one of the best country albums of the decade.

Yes it was their fans that abandoned them.

Bill O'Reilly
quote:

Now every American, including media people should evaluate the president and form conclusions. That is our duty as citizens. But this hate stuff, this rooting for the administration to fail in Iraq and other areas is un-American, unbecoming and unacceptable. Like him or not President Bush is the elected leader of this country. He deserves a fair hearing.

Note that Bill said President Bush NOT President Obama so dont go try using this quote as fuel of Conservative Hypocrisy. Its a different president, they dont deserve the same respect.

"Hank Williams Jr. paying for Hitler-Obama comment"

Hank Williams Jr.’s political opinions meant a whole lot of “Monday Night Football” fans would not be ready to hear “Are You Ready For Some Football?” before the Indianapolis-Tampa Bay game this week. The Williams Jr. staple that has opened up “Monday Night Football” for ages was pulled by ESPN because of Williams’ remarks on Fox that morning.

According to an Associated Press report on foxnews.com, Williams was speaking about President Barack Obama’s golf game with House Speaker John Boehner on "Fox & Friends," and said, "It'd be like Hitler playing golf with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."

Williams clarified by saying he meant Obama and Vive-President Joe Biden were the enemy. Gretchen Carlson said, "You used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe the president." Williams answered, "That is true. But I'm telling you like it is."

Hmm, does this mean that Nancy Pelosi should then lose her job because she called the people opposed to Obamacare "nazis"?

That's different. She's a democrat and therefor gets a pass.

Dude get a sense of humor. If u took that as a literal comment you need to step away from the computer.

angel

Tazzy the point was it wasn't them making the comment it was the war with TK that dumped their career. Their comment overseas was the end of the line for them. And their war with TK escalated after that.

But I am sure you know the story and no one else does.

There is no equivalent defense for the sign with the photo of the President with an Adolphian mustache. That is a nauseatingly hateful malignancy, and it is a rare overt and explicit manifestation of the ignorant and bigotted mindset of many of those who call themselves "xxx".

I so glad you now see things the same way I do, Hippie.  [8D]

Hank Jr. is a moron. Hank III knows where it's at....

Well some say I'm not country
and that's just fine with me
'Cause I don't wanna be country
with some faggot looking over at me
They say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks

So I'm here to put the "dick" in Dixie
and the "cunt" back in country
'Cause the kind of country I hear now days
is a bunch of fuckin' shit to me

They say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks

Well we're losing all the outlaws
that had to stand their ground
and they're being replaced by these kids
from a manufactured town
And they don't have no idea
about sorrow and woe
'Cause they're all just too damn busy
kissin' ass on Music Row

So I'm here to put the "dick" in Dixie
and the "cunt" back in country
'Cause the kind of country I hear nowdays
is a bunch of fuckin' shit to me
And they say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'

Nancy Pelosi claims protesters are "carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on healthcare."

Now, if its true they were, then no, she didnt call them nazi's. If they didnt, then it could be construed as her calling them that.

hmmm .....

This is a disingenuous rationalization, seems to me..

Kinda like calling someone a "carpet muncher" ... but saying you weren't calling them a lesbian.

Kinda like saying someone's said position was the opposite of their actions ... but you didn't call them a hypocrite.

Kinda like claiming that you didn't have sex with that women ... you only got a blowjob.

Kinda like saying you saw swastika's at their meeting ... but you aren't calling them Nazis.

I'm astonished that Hank Jr knows who
Benjamin Netanyahu is.
If ESPN doesn't want to be
associated with him I think
they have every right to dump
him. They have their brand to
protect.
And he's free to make all the dumb
ass remarks he wants. But not free
from suffering the consequences that
any public figure or entertainer is
vulnerable to.

Obviously you'd also be astonished to know that Hank Williams Jr. also knows who Adolf Hitler was, whence he came, how he came to power, and how he wraught what he did.

Why are you surprised that he has that knowledge?
Is it because he is from the southeastern US?

Fightdirecto -> RE: Con gets booted for Obama/nazi comment.... (10/7/2011 8:25:48 AM)

It had to happen - it was just a matter of time:

New York Daily News

quote:

Williams, on his website, said he pulled the plug on his theme.

"After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision. By pulling my opening Oct. 3, you (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The 1st Amendment Freedom of Speech," Williams wrote. "So therefore Me, My Song and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It's been a great run."

"1st Amendment Freedom of Speech?" Apparently, Mr. Williams has never taken the time to read the 1st Amendment (or to have someone who can read, read it to him). The 1st Amendment is actually not that complicated. It can be read from start to finish in about 10 seconds. It bars the Government from abridging free speech rights. It doesn't have anything to do with whether private individuals or corporations can bar you from their privately-owned television show because they don't like what you've said.

Just another example of a Tea Party-type "Real Patriotic American" who really doesn't know what our Constitution actually says.

Winterapple -> RE: Con gets booted for Obama/nazi comment.... (10/7/2011 9:02:20 AM)

As I'm a born and bred southerner, no.
In interviews he's never struck me as the
current events type and he's made some
asshole remarks about women over the
years.
But I've seen him in concert and I know the
words to Family Tradition by heart.

So, you are saying that this sign:

also what Firm said above.

I can't believe you really can't see a difference between a swastika and an anti-swastika.
