Yah, that thread was doomed to failure. The large majority of people in society as a whole, not just in the states or canada, cannot discuss religeon without being snarky or rude. Every time you say something logical or inteligient, it makes them analyze the fallacies of thier religeon. And every time that happens, they naturally fall into a defensive nature. Not all religeos people have this kind of reaction though. Really I shouldn't lump them all together. I've had very good discussions with Taoists and Hindus. It's usually Christians, Catholics, Islamists, and Athiests that suffer from this irrational behavior. I have managed to have a total of 2 productive and insightfull discussions with Christians in my entire life, rest just turned into enraged tantrums. To be honest I was surprised at how tame the discussion went, I was expecting the mods to have to jump in on that one, even though some of the posters were more interested in converting rather than helping her find her own answers. Shit happens.
