ORIGINAL: Iamsemisweet The strange thing is, school dress codes being what they are, the girls probably could wear those shirts to school, and no one would say anything. I don't know this for a fact, about the dress code, but I know I have seen worse things at my kids' high schools. Hell, even their junior highs. My high school had a dress code, but I think schools now are pretty lax. Schools are afraid to fuck with student's freedom of speech these days. The only reason this became an issue is because these girls are at a school game, supposedly representing the school. I gotta say, most of you have a lesser opinion of teen age boys than I do. Do you honestly believe they are going to grope some cheerleader in the hall because of a slogan on a t shirt that they saw at a game 3 days before? Most of the schools that I know of have become pretty harsh about teaching kids that sexual harassment is not OK, all the way from grade school. Also, why would a slogan on a shirt be more likely to incite some adolescent than the skimpy clothes that girls already wear to school? Kids dress provocatively all the time, but there is not necessarily a lot of overt groping. Would words really be more of a turn on then seeing the actual flesh? No, I'm not suggesting that there will be gang-rapes in the hallways and grope-fests in the locker rooms. Chances are, the shirts are cute, everyone would have a good time, and have done a good thing for breast cancer awareness. But, I'm looking at the whole situation as an administrator....what would I do if I was responsible for the whole thing, and my ass was on the line if something went wrong, It only takes one inappropriate touch or even lewd comment, the girl goes home and tells her parents. You know there are people out there looking for shit to stir up, and here's a chance to sue the school, etc. etc. etc. Now I'm suspended while the school board and the local police investigate the whole thing, blah blah blah. Based on previous experiences in my own life and careers, if I was the school administrator in charge, I'm afraid I'd be doing the same thing, just to nip the situation in the bud before one occurs. I might not like having to do it, but if my job is on the line, I'm going to. I'm wondering why the cheerleader advisor who helped them organize the event didn't run the slogan by administration before they ordered the shirts. I mean, come on....teenage girls wearing shirts that have the phrase "Feel for lumps" written right across their breasts. They couldn't have been that clueless, it had to be in the back of someone's mind that it would cause some giggles and raise some eyebrows....so oops, we didn't ask first.
